Renegade Kid closes, co-founders continue with their own studios

This comes from a PR email given to NintendoLife...

Renegade Kid has announced that its co-founders, Jools Watsham and Gregg Hargrove, have made the difficult decision to bring their 10-year partnership of developing games together as Renegade Kid LLC to an end.

With their friendship and respect for each other still very much intact, Watsham and Hargrove will continue developing videogames under the names of their new companies: Atooi and Infitizmo.

The award-winning library of Intellectual Properties that Renegade Kid has created over the past decade will be finding new homes. All of Renegade Kid's "2D" games, including the Mutant Mudds series and Treasurenauts, will become the property of Atooi. All of Renegade Kid's "3D" games, including the Dementium series and Moon Chronicles, will become the property of Infitizmo.

We hope you will share in the excitement that both Jools and Gregg feel for their new journeys. You can follow their progress on twitter: @AtooiLLC and @InfitizmoLLC.

Mario Party: Star Rush - more info on Toad Scramble mode

This comes from Nintendo World Report's  Gamescom impression for Mario Party: Star Rush...

- Toad Scramble big mode of game
- get stars, collect coins and screw with others
- grid based movement instead of the fixed routes and attractions of the older titles
-  system allows for movement in any direction you want, go to any space you like and form your own routes to the stars
- multiple worlds to choose from
- seems to be room for five or six worlds with three levels each
- first will feature a smaller environment with just three bosses, while the biggest ones will have five bosses to deal with
- boss minigames are back and it is here where the stars need to be rescued
- At least one player actually has to hit the spot before a battle can begin
- the others, may they close or far off, need to keep tapping the A-button to close in and join the fray
- possibly around ten boss minigames
- face off against Kamek and try to blast him with a catapult
- boss fight involves playing a memory game to get cards, which pull the catapult farther back to do even more damage to Kamek
- another example involves carrying lights across moving terrain and flashing them right into King Boo's face
- bout with a gigantic Blooper involves a rhythm based game
- by hitting a ball on the beat and bouncing it to the next character, the points rack up
- various characters from the Super Mario universe will hang around various spots across the board
- your job to recuit them for your cause
- they help you with boss battles and each have their own special abilities
- if you make Walugi the team captain for example, four sides of the dice will have higher rolls than normally possible
- the other two will cause a loss of coins
- Peach’s ability is another possibly exploitable one, as she powers up two sides of the die depending on how many people are in the active party
- other party members also roll as well, which allows for fast movement, but also could lead to over-shooting an objective
- destruction of bosses earns you one star (two for the final boss), but coins play a more important role
- every ten coins at the end of the game will be converted into stars
- everything in the game earns additional money
- from picking them on the field to scoring victories in the Free-For-All minigames which are activated by smashing a Coin Balloon
- all comes together in the endgame where bonus rewards are given for performing in certain ways, like being the person who travelled the most spaces
- one of the Ghost House boards puts a lot of emphasis on spikes
- location of these could be swapped by hitting special buttons that are littered all around
- one of the boards in the first grassy world puts a lot of emphasis on items
- every player can carry two, and there are quite a few different ones
- thing to do is to land on the same space as an opponent, whether through items or a Lakitu space
- starts a battle where a feat needs to performed quickly, like pressing the A-button on the correct time
- winner gets to take one of the loser’s allies

PR - 3Souls patch 1.1.0 coming soon

It has been already a month since the first episode of 3Souls is out in America, Europe and Oceania! We like to listen to the players to be able to offer a better experience for all of them, and thats the main reason of this first patch. We have look into different parts of the game and readjust many features to create a better game for everyone.

Here is the full list of the changes that will be included in the coming soon patch 1.1.0:

Two new languages: Thanks to the great help from Nintendo-Town.fr and Simone Morelli, we were able to offer french and italian in the game!
Rush Respawn: new mode in the Game Over screen. Now you can choose to continue from the last moment before you died (without restarting the full level).
More Vault options: you can check out the ML-Rules, Memories and the "8 Seconds of Nindies" found them in the game.
Easter egg less intrusive: "8 Seconds of Nindies" is now hidden and need a extra action to be activated.
Wheel portal balanced: more intuitive and forgiven.
Lightball portal balanced: accept light and darker colors.
ML-Rules position changed: those are not in the way of the player anymore.
Framerate ventilator fixed: this happend sometimes in the the stages with ventilator shafts and now has been fixed.
Remove any Try&Error: any platform, path or puzzle has always a clue to be resolved.
Minor adjustment overall: better experience with different adjustment in platforms, blocks and other elements in general, for a better gameplay experience.

With this, we hope more people can enjoy the game! We keep working now on the Episode 2 of 3Souls ;)
