Major League Baseball 2006 to Cube

1109735296February 2003 was the last that the GameCube saw of Sega’s 2k sports lineup. Things have changed since that time.

The 2k sports lineup of games has shifted ownership from Sega to Take-Two interactive since January 2005. With that change came no mention of a Major League Baseball 2005 for the Cube. 2k sports fans were put out to dry that year, as the Cube was ignored.

Now Take-Two Interactive have announced that Major League Baseball 2006 will be heading to the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube. You have to wonder, why did Take-Two Interactive switch its stance? Why no 2005 love, but 2006? Did Take-Two Interactive feel sorry for Nintendo, or is there something else going on? Perhaps Take-Two Interactive has become friends with the people at Nintendo since the introduction of the Revolution controller!

Major League Baseball 2006 coming to the Cube isn’t just a random happening. Something is going on behind closed doors to give Take-Two Interactive some reason to bring their game to the Cube. I doubt it has much to do with sales, seeing that the Cube has the lowest installed base in the US. I wonder what made them make this decision.

I am hardly ever interested in sports games, but the underlying story in this announcement really does intrigue me.
