Third parties still unable to offer free 3DS demos/software...for now
This is an issue that I really hope Nintendo fixes soon. On the Wii, third parties are allowed to put out demos of WiiWare games for free. On the 3DS, third parties have no option to put out free content. That means any demo that hits the service has to be a paid demo, and the lowest price option is 200 yen. That's the way it stands for right now, but changes are coming.
While the situation right now isn't exactly optimal, we're hearing that free demos are in line for the future. Reggie has said it, and other sources have confirmed it along the way. This is more like a situation of when, not if.
