Inafune had a rather enlightening GDC panel that looks at the past and future of his works. He discussed his time at Capcom, which brought with it a couple of interestin comments about big-name brands.

"Putting aside the quality, the game [Mega Man Legends] was a failure from a sales perspective."

"At one point Resident Evil [the first game in the series] was canceled. Nobody believed it would be a success except [Shinji] Mikami."

Man, just think about how different the game industry would be without the stories of Mega Man Legends and Resident Evil! While Resident Evil continues on with multiple sales successes, the Blue Bomber is barely hanging in there. What does Inafune have to say about the future of Mega Man?

"As with yourselves and fans around the world I am concerned about Mega Man’s future."
