Xenoblade Chronicles - review

A portion of a Siliconera review...

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if someone paired a good JRPG developer with a forward-thinking publisher and gave them a generous development budget, Xenoblade is the exact answer.

Overall that's a great review, I agree with just about everything he said.

I don't know if I'd call Nintendo a "forward-thinking" publisher though, given their publishing/localizing history and... this game in particular.

Xenoblade is really good. I just wish it wasn't so hard sometimes. Sometimes the bosses can be a little over-the-top.

Some interesting Nintendo oriented hate in the comments of the review :/

Nintendo is the petri dish of the entire industry.

They're one of the most (if not the most) forward thinking game developers of all time.

Publishers? not so much.

I had a brilliant time with Xenoblade :)
I finished it about 3 or so weeks ago.
Absolutely loved the ending! I was quite surprised.
I enjoyed all aspects of the game :D Double thumbs up from me! hehe

@diaglyph

I totally agree, the ending is priceless. Absolutely brilliant. It has been a long time since I have been this satisfied when finishing an RPG. The scope of the game is gigantic and the ending does not disapoint. That's what jrpgs are all about: huge scales, epic world and stories: you're here to save the f*ckin universe and the game is going to make you feel that way!

Pure awesome ^^

hah yeah
The 'I refuse to play this game since it's not on the 360 or PS3' one is pretty hilarious.
And the one where the guy said 'Nintendo only puts out crap like wii music and wii play'.
Idiots. Idiots everywhere on my internets.

@ninjablaze
I think at least Nintendo in Japan is a pretty forward thinking publisher, and NoA (and NoE too) haven't been perfect, but they've done a lot.

Things have been flip flopping a bit more than usual lately, but I think all around, Nintendo is a pretty forward thinking dev and publisher. And certainly more so than most other publishers.

Ishaan's review definitely got me more excited for Xenoblade. We just picked up MHtri though, and I told my boyfriend I wouldn't play Xenoblade much if he wasn't around so we could be awed by it together, but I don't know if I'm going to be able to keep that promise. ^u^;
