The mysterious phone call going out to Nintendo journalists

UPDATE - Reader Kolma put on his detective hat and found this info out about the domain.

Domain registration info leads to this developer http://www.blooberteam.com/

I talked about this on the podcast earlier today. There's a bit of a discussion about it in the show, but I thought I'd post up a blurb about it here.

Last night I received a phone call at 4:30 in the morning. The number was unknown, so I decided to let it go to voicemail. To my surprise, someone did leave a voicemail. You can hear the message below.

Now, there's a bit of debate about what is being said in the message. I know the man says, "Have you heard about ________? If not...you will." What exactly is the man saying in the blank? Some people say he's saying 'Wii U'. Others claim he's saying 'medium. I'm more inclined to believe medium.

The reason I believe medium is because last week, I received an anonymous letter in my mailbox. The letter advertised http://medium-game.com/ The letter came with the following postcard.

As you can see, the image shows the same man on both sides, but obviously we're seeing two versions of the same world. Pretty freaky stuff, but just as interesting as well.

So...what do you think? Is this Medium game related to the phone call?

The news was released on May 30th, and the last part says almost what Aaronnoraator posted.

Well, that is surely a weird marketing campaign. Brazilian websites are neglected by even the big companies, how come a extremely small studio from Poland sent them the postcard? Also, where did they get all those addresses?

It doesn't sound like neither Wii U nor medium to me, but I can't tell what the heck it could be either.

Clearly sounds like "medium" to me. Also creepy as hell.

Let me just say I'm glad not to be a Nintendo journalist right now!

Creepy... did totheark become a game developer all of a sudden? lol

I'm guessing this is just early viral marketing for a horror game that'll be announced for either 3DS or Wii U at E3. I don't think it's the rumored "Acid Ghost," but this should be interesting.

Maybe name change?

The last sounds a bit different

On first my listen it sounded like 'Wii U', but Occam's Razor would suggest it was 'Medium'. Between the postcard, the domain registered to a Polish WiiWare developer and the guy on the phone clearly having an accent, there's pretty much no way it'd be Wii U (I mean, who hasn't heard of Wii U?).

Pretty clever way for a small dev to drum up some publicity with all the AAA titles flying around atm.

Definitely sounds like "Medium"; looks like those stories about "Acid Ghost" may have some validity after all.
Why would anyone call at 4:30 to make a creepy comment about the WiiU? That is just asinine.

Normal world on the TV and crazy world on the tablet. Schizophrenia game.

@chambertlo

I thought about acid ghost too, and making that kind of call to anyone @ 4:30 sounds like they have been enjoying some acid them selves.

Holy crap, there is another Marble Hornets fan on these boards. Also this is quite a creepy way to market a game... but I think it's pretty cool. I probably would have never even knew this developer existed if it wasn't for this.

I heard that as medium straight away. I guess I'm used to hearing accents hehe
If it is Bloober Team, they are polish, so most likely the guy has polish accent (which sounds about right to me)
