RUMOR - Best Buy employee terminal lists Wii U for $300

I think this looks pretty legit to me. I don't want to call it confirmed, but it certainly seems like the most convincing evidence yet. Thanks to supreme_pizza_king for the heads up!

Lets hope for around £250 in the UK then. That would be awesome!

This price had better happen. $ :mrgreen: $

A very fair price if true!

and just where in this picture does it say $300 dollars?

@LegendofSantiago This.

@FatFace83 I imagine it'll be rounded up to £300 for us UKers anyway [that is, if Nintendo don't pull a 3DS on us again and have retailers set the price >->].

Seriously, how does this picture inspire that rumor?

Good deal. Just bundle Nintendo Land with it and we're set!

@luigi_owns

Don't push it...It's called trolling and you will earn a report.

Here's hoping it comes bundled with something.

Looks pretty legit to me, even the SKU matches up =D.

It is a TEST SKU, but still interesting. Note you can't bring up the SKU in a normal Best Buy search, as it has no product page. But swapping in the SKU in an inventory search does bring it up =D (as seen below)

I'm honestly not trolling, this picture is super dark and I can't see the area you guys are referring to. Can anyone tell me where in the picture it says that? Because I honestly can't make it out at all

EDIT: Saved the picture to my computer and raised the brightness so now I can see it. That was just a bad pic I don't know how you guys read that

well I guess if a computer can have internet settings relating directly to photos, because everything else seems fine. I mean, forget reading that type, I couldn't see that there was anything written there at all. Who knows? lol

Seeing as $300 is what a PS3 or Xbox(With HDD & game) go for these days that seems like the magic number. If the Wii U really can push better visuals, has 8GB's of internal memory, & gets some more exclusive first/second party games announced before launch then that price could do nicely. I'd take that controller over a built in HDD.

A really good price if you pack Nintendo Land in there is a seller.

@chris_the_wing

Yes...And by setting this as a price, the gamers automatically believe that it is just like a PS3...Way to go, Nintendo! Way to go!

Agreed. First day buy if this is the case (probably anyway...)

That's really weird. Even on my lowest brightness setting I can see it perfectly..

N'ah. Nintendo wants to have the price stable for a long time. Pretty soon these old-gen consoles like PS3 will lower their prices and Nintendo will stay at 300. Nintendo shouldn't really look at the other consoles' prices anyway - they have their own thing and having a tablet like that is a huge difference from the other consoles.

I guess I can swallow a $300 price since PS3 is sitting at $250 now. Still I know I will be waiting for a price drop and/or specs on the next consoles.

@delpiero

Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that the gamers will make this link in their minds and that the first impression is very important...

Your forgetting that Sony and Microsoft will be forced to slash their prices closer to $200 when Wii U launches, or pack in a few games.

Umm, IDK. You can get a new Blu Ray player for $90, six years ago you could get a less capable Blu Ray player for $500. Consumers are more savvy these days then ever before & they realize that new electronics are better then ever for the same or less money.
