The following is all rumored information about a supposed canned Wii U project.
- was in the works for PS4/720/PC/Wii U
- coming from EA
- used the Frostbite engine
- was successfully ported to Wii U
- concerns over big-budget games and low stocks forced EA to remove the Wii U version
Again, all rumors, but the source is someone that has gotten insider info in the past. Make of it what you will. Thanks to all of you that sent this in!

The engine was ported to wiiu, not the game.
And yes, the other consoles will blow the U out of the water based on their target specs.
Yes it does, the source is trustworthy.
But if it running on an engine that will run on the WiiU, this is not as much of a tech issue as it is a market issue.
I just wonder what kind of market there will be in 15 to 18 months for high end consoles with the way the economy continues to meaander at low levels throughout much of the world.
And I agree that rumors from sources that have a strong track record are good postings, so long as they are marked as rumors.

Sounds like they are really making a Frostbite version to run on next gen PS4/720 and the WiiU couldn't handle it.
@ddddd
What target specs are those?, rumors are stating the 720 will be 2-4x more powerful than the Wii U which is not that much and if you really think the PS4 will be a powerhouse than your wrong.
@NeroSuferoth
He said it had nothing to do with tech, EA is scared about sales so they want to see how it does.
@NeroSuferoth the source says it has nothing to do with power. I guess they expect the ps4 and the 720 to be more successful out of the box. They are in for a rude awakening
Edit: Never mind, seems like I didn't scroll down enough. The initial posts of the rumor were confusing as whether or not the entire project was cancelled or just the Wii U version.
He cleared it up in a later post stating that only the Wii U version was canned.
It makes sense only if they scrapped the entire project.
@autosaver
Look to the source yourself he later confirmed that only the wii u version is canned
@the max
I should scroll down farther next time. :/
sounds like a bad idea seeing as Wii U will be lot longer then others out the door or shown so should be more in homes
@Meelow100
@LegendofSantiago
If it's really not about power then I choose not to belive it, because it doesn't make sense that EA would can the WiiU version without even seeing initial sales.
Unless the tittle was turning up too costly to make and to release on this new platform.
Because two consoles we know nothing about are far more likely to succeed than one that is coming out this year. LOGIC, third parties have none.
So only the Wii U version is canned, the other versions are still being worked on, and it's not due to technical issues(Wii U hardware being weak or something like that)...
uhhh, ok.
Looks like EA doesn't have that much faith in Wii U after all.
@NeroSuferoth there are a number of things that could happen with this post: 1) the source's info is bogus 2) the source misunderstood the info. 3) EA is making another stupid business decision.
It does bodes well for next gen, and EA.
Keep digging that hole.
You will not solve your increasing budget problems by removing a specific SKU. You need attack the increasing budget problem itself, not make circles around it.
@NeroSuferoth
It's not, maybe EA is scared to fully support if this is true but sales will have to convince them, if this rumor is true than it should come out in 1.5-2 years, long enough for a Wii U port.

: Do you even know what your talking about yes Sony had losses this year, but NO THEY ARE NOT NEAR BANKRUPTCY. Nor did they just begin profiting from the PS3 it's been a couple years now. It's not suicide on MS or Sony's part. What the Nintendo fanboys fail to realize is The I will bet $400 at least Wii U will be back to the most underpowered system the minute MS and Sony release new consoles, It's only the people that don't want to pay for them that don't want them because they will most likely be $500-$600 bucks.
Nintendo has obviously started to worry 3rd parties about the actual capabilities of the Wii U the minute the other release their consoles, the fanboys who think the Wii U is going to be a $250 system are delusional hell the kindle fire is the cheapest tablet on the market so if their tablet controller is even near what that tablet is $350-400 is about where the Wii U will be for their 720p machine..... The Wii U is a console that the more it's talked about and the more you find out the less appealing it sounds. Hell really multiplats that are over a year old as launch titles just because the controller now has an inventory screen on it. REALLY?
Because being the weakest graphically when you have all the necessary shaders and other hardware always means you don't get third party support. I mean, just look at how much more support the GameCube got over the PS2, amirite?
so fake
BELIEVE IT!
Umm can you please fix your typos? like you're instead of your

The rumour does not make sense. If the game was running on the Wii U, then what reason could there be for cancelling? In a time when publishers are porting to tablets and even smartphones to maximise sales, the idea that they are canning a working version of a game, for a machine that will sell very well, a game, which will let's face it use much of the same data and graphics as the "next-gen" Xbox, is nonsensical.
It might be that EA are delaying Wii U development, so that the release for all the new machines is synchronised.
1. The Wii U's price is going to be around 250-300 bucks. This has been heavily hinted at. Not the 350-400 which you hilariously suggest.
2. Again, the game wasn't canned for technical reasons, so stop acting like the Wii U is some technical featherweight.
3. The more you throw out the fanboy card, the more you look like a fanboy yourself. Just sayin.
Yet again, YOU (THE DEVELOPER) needs to make the market for your game on said system. Of course no ones going to buy a system your games aren't on. Shooting yourself in the foot again EA, even before the horse left the gate. I guess somethings never change.
As an example, in my opinion, if activision would've supported CoD on Wii from the get go(MW and on) who knows how big the market would've been. You secretly launch games with no advertising yet they sell in the millions on a sub par system. Imagine if you actually went all out, and gave us a MW experience when everyone else got it. I think things would be a lot different.
