Combat looks pretty bad, and that was supposed to be the main selling point of the game. I think WayForward should have focused on puzzle-based gameplay (e.g. A Boy and his Blob). Action hasn't really been one of their strengths (e.g. Contra 4, Brave and the Bold).
Well... I hope Finn gets to do more than rely on Jake, but it looks okay. It better be a little cheapter than the usual 3DS games.
@Blue_Falcon
They need to have puzzles, but I don't want them to focus on it. That's part of why I don't enjoy Zelda anymore. Those puzzles can be tedious.

Ultimately it depends on how well designed the puzzles are. The reason Zelda games start feeling tedious is because most of the puzzles never require any brainpower and are nothing more than simple diversions that slow everything down. They feel more like chores than actual puzzles.
I wouldn't expect any complex puzzles in this, maybe simple ones, probably simpler than what's in Zelda... I mean, there are puzzles in the show, but the adventure and combat has a stronger presence, you'd think they'd focus more on that.
Well, I was thinking of something like A Boy and his Blob (WayForward's best game), where the kid uses the blobs various abilities in order to progress. Likewise, I think there's a lot of potential for a puzzle-platformer centered around Jake's powers and Finn's various items.
And, yeah, I'd personally prefer a straight-up action game, but as I mentioned in my first post, I'm not a fan of WayForward's action games, so I'd prefer they give it to someone with more expertise in the genre.
Yeah, I too don't enjoy Zelda anymore because of the puzzles, so I'm hoping this is more of a straight-up action game, too.
I'm worried about the combat in this one, as well. As some have mentioned, I don't think WayForward is the best when it comes to combat systems in action games, and in this particular game especially it feels like this will be the make-or-break point.
Crossing my fingers and hoping that this works out, though, as I LOVE the Zelda II influence and think we need more action games like it!
Woah, hype
I logged in just to rate this! Can't wait. Looks like Finn and Jake have a banjo kazooie like thing going on there.
Looks very meh. But I'm in love with the show, so I'm not writing this off just yet.

They weren't kidding about the zelda 2 influence, this looks nearly the same, even the downward sword thrust is there.

Right now its going for $30 on Amazon (both DS and 3DS version) with the Collector's Edition going for $40.

It would be nice if the characters were a bit larger on screen and the dialogue was spoken instead of text.
