Coming from the RARE Scribes section of their website...
Q: Dear Gods of Gaming known as Rare,
Do you plan to make any games for the 3DS? I think a Banjo game would be perfect for the 3DS marketplace with other platformers of its kind, like Super Mario 3D Land, and Kid Icarus. I know me and a lot of long time Rare fans would make it their top priority to get the game. In fact, I’d even buy a 3DS just for the game itself. Thanks for at least looking at this, love you guys long way. Happy 30th, bros.
Sincerely,
Tyler Robinson
A: 30 years! Blimey. Well, it is if you include Ultimate – it’ll be 2015 if we’re going from the birth of Rare, or 2017 from Rare’s first console release (aw yeah, go Slalom).
No 3DS plans have been announced, and I’ve heard nothing along those lines, though of course that’s not an outright denial as there are bound to be all sorts of things going on at a high management level that most of us know nothing about (and, conversely, things we do hear that are apparently not true at all – those personal hovercrafts are taking far longer than expected). So that’s the best you’ll get for now. Thanks for the reminder to nick my son’s 3DS and have a stab at Kid Icarus though.
Thanks to DiddyKong for the heads up!

Yes please. I can only see it as a way for Microsoft to make money since the 3ds is pretty successful and I don't think any one buys 360s for rare games anymore so it wouldn't be like Nintendo putting Mario on the iPhone or something
I really don't want to see the RARE of today making another Banjo game. Almost everybody who worked on the games we all remember has left the company, and Nuts & Bolts kinda ruined it for me. I also don't think it'll happen any time soon since they've been restructured to work exclusively on Kinect.
I want to believe they could get their shiznabadizniat together and do this, and do it right. ;_;
Rare of the golden days are gone. All its crew that have worked on their greatest titles, has left the company.
It's possible, we now make Kinect games only, but it's possible.
It would be awesome for a Banjo game on the 3DS but I don't trust Rare anymore.
Aaaaaaaannd here's where i put my "I give a damn".... IF I GAVE ONE!
"Dear Gods of Gaming known as Rare."
Good joke.
Gods of Gaming? Hahaha. e
What for? it's not the 80's anymore!
I would doubt of that game's quality. As everybody knows, the original Rare staff isn't there anymore...
Woohoo! While Rare isn't the same as it once was, I'd still love to see Banjo back on Nintendo platforms.
I just like pretend that nothing ever happened to Rare and they just renamed themselves Retro. BTW did he just call Kid Icarus a platformer? I assume he's talking about Uprising, unless he's talking about the 3D Classics version of the original, in which case, what an odd reference.
Your post just gave me cancer.
ROFL, gods of gaming?
And the person admits to not even owning a 3DS?
FAIL.
Only here is nuts and bolts suddenly a bad game and people. Put the blinders on Viva Pinata and kinect sports being good games.
Smh
@shingi70you seem to like defending rare, good for you I guess, but they are no where near as good as they used to be. Nuts and bolts looks pretty, but I didn't like what they did (even ignoring the fact that it's supposed to be a BK game) also, you say only here, I don't know anywhere where people like that game. I have nothing to say abot VP though, I've never played it
I would probably buy Viva Pinata on 3DS.
Dude, I've heard tons of praise of Nuts and Bolts from other places.
It had twinklings of greatness but the gameplay ultimately just blew it. Personally I would have prefered smaller worlds you could traverse on foot rather than the same old thing over and over again. The only way I could complete the game (or just well) was to physically retool some of the cars they gave you for the challenges. With different direction Banjo could be great again.
Well that was Mindanao of the point. Making vechicles was fun and the customization in the game was really good for a precursor to LBP and minecraft.
I mew. Its a good not great game but I get tired of hearing how its a horrible game.
I honestly wouldn't mind a combo of the two types of gameplay on next gen hardware. Having the vechile creation of nuts and bolts and travesring huge Mario 64 style hubs worlds to get to smaller areas that play like traditional banjo.
i think nuts and bolts was a good game.. not great. it didnt feel like banjo.. it felt like a different game with a banjo skin over it... the humor was there, but the beautiful platforming was NOT! viva pinata, on the other hand, good lord did i junk out on that game for longer than should ever be considered decent.
should be ex-gods of gaming instead.
wow, ya'll wouldnt buy a 3d online killer instinct?! FFS i'd play that over Mortal Kombat anyday, and the 'new' MK is pretty good. tis the only rare attachment i care about, cos my god did i want an ultra64!
