TGS 2012 - Various game details (Inazuma Eleven, E,X, Troopers, Project X Zone and more)

Fantasy Life

- Mix of Zelda, Animal Crossing, RPG mechanics
- Create a character at the start of the demo
- Different body types, head shapes, hair, eyes, etc. to choose from
- Then get to choose a “life” for your character
- Over 10 different jobs in the final game
- Jobs include soldier, prospector, cook
- Demo offered soldier, carefree person, or nothing
- Knight will give you your first quest
- He’ll give you armor and weapons, as well as a companion to journey with
- Go to the next destination by following the arrow
- There are “distractions” along the way
- An apple tree will appear as you head to your destination
- Can shake it to make apples fall and collect them
- You’ll also come across a character fishing
- You can join in on the fishing as well
- When you approach your target, the forest opens up to a large field with sheep and other animals frolicking around
- Animals will try to run away if you approach them with your sword
- If you kill them, they may drop items like potions
- A button: attack
- X button: shield
- Enemies that you need to take out for your quest can be defeated easily

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XII

- A lot of text in the TGS demo
- Game is shown on the GamePad and TV simultaneously
- Setup and early parts of the game don’t let you use the GamePad touch screen to select what you’re doing
- Physical buttons are used for this
- Touch screen is used once you get into battle
- Choose units by touching them
- Touch another area on the screen to move units
- Can also move units with the left analog stick on the GamePad
- Unit types: archers, cavalry, spearmen, etc.
- Each unit has its own traits
- Rushing your archers in for a face-to-face fight against enemy cavalry will end badly for you
- Online will be included
- Will likely support the Pro controller

Project X Zone

- Two levels playable at TGS: city level and graveyard
- City level features several groups of heroes
- Each turn you take switches you over to another team for the next turn
- Spin the camera around the city scene with the d-pad
- Up and down lets you zoom in and out
- Can pan far away and see the whole battle scene
- Grid will be shown beneath your feet when it’s your turn
- You can see how far you can walk
- Walk up to an enemy and you are prompted to hit A to start an attack
- Attack with up + A, down + A, hold Y, etc.
- Attacks are explained on the touch screen
- Hit points are taken off in real time
- Game will show you how much damage you’ve dished up once your moves are down
- Control two characters for super attacks
- These attacks typically fill the screen
- Ryu and Ken’s super has lots of fireballs and hurricane kicks, with the 3D overlay taken from Street Fighter IV
- Resident Evil super features big weapons

E.X. Troopers

- Choose characters and weapon loadouts once the lobby is set up
- Five different characters playable
- Each has a unique look and different initial loadouts
- Two demo stages playable at TGS: easy and difficult
- Circle Pad: move the character
- Y button: shoot
- Primary weapons are usually machine guns or weapons with consistent firing power
- X button: sub-weapon
- Sub-weapons include shotguns and explosive launchers
- A button: melee combat
- B and Circle Pad: quick step
- Hold B forward to boost forward with a rocket attached to your back
- D-pad: camera control
- L button: center the camera
- R button: lock on to enemies
- Easy stage has players going into a cave
- Insect-like creatures will battle you
- Can turn off friendly fire damage
- Red arrow will tell you where to go next after clearing an area
- In the demo, you’ll encounter a cliff and will be prompted to press the A button
- Doing so will allow your character to scale up the side with rope
- Fight bees and their pods
- Then the demo ends
- Second stage demo has varied enemies and slightly different setting
- You’ll go around corridors and go outside
- You’ll also fight humanoid characters along with bees
- End of the second stage demo has a couple different large, four-legged and extremely powerful creatures
- Special charge attack: active with a blue button on the touch screen
- Once charged, a blue aura will appear around the player
- If the other two players rushed to the aura, they could unleash a mega attack that would deal considerable damage to the enemy
- Can use the rope on the creature with the A button at times
- Doing so pulls the creature to the ground
- Weak point on the creatures’ tails
- Creatures will constantly guard their tails
- Can be revived by another player if he/she presses A multiple times by your body
- Can alternatively use one of three continues

Inazuma Eleven Go Strikers 2013

- Can play with the Classic Controller Pro
- Wiimote + nunchuck, Wiimote, GameCube setups are supported
- Arcade-like gameplay
- Can use power-ups and abilities
- Perform special moves to steal the ball or kick a spinning ball into a character’s stomach, knocking them out of the way
- Consistent frame rate
