The following info pertains to GameStop...
- 1.2 million preorders for Wii U games
- this is on top of the 500,000 consoles it was allocated
- tie ratio of 2.4 games for every console
- this is more than double what GameStop saw leading up to the launch of the Wii
- peorders lead by (no particular order) Zombie U, Assassin's Creed 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Scribblenauts Unlimited and New Super Mario Bros. U

I approve of the top preorders. In gamestop alone the wii U is going to sell more than 500,000 units at launch and more than 1.2 million games near launch. Those are pretty impressive numbers and the list of the top selling games makes me very happy especially with how varied they are. The games that share the most in common are ZombiU and CoD:Blops2 and those games are very different. This should also bode well with 3rd party publishers. I'm also surprised to see Scribblenauts there, i was expecting a bomba out if it with the obscene $60 price tag
Boding very well
ah u bastard Santiago, just bested me
NINTENDOOOOOOMED!!!!
That is all, carry on...
Still no midnight...
I really can't wait for this to come out. When it finally arrives and breaks records, then that may shut some of the Nintendoomsayers. If the Wii U is selling this well during launch and 3rd parties keep it up, there should be no worries for Nintendo.
I preordered 4 of those 5 top preorders
Now this IS good news...
Seems like the Wii U will be a success bbigger than we thought. And the launch line-up is pretty amazing actually. Even though, I personally, do not want too many of those games. But I see why it's good. (All I want are ZombiU and Mario)
I will be curious of the following:
- A developer (like Retro or Capcom) pushing the hardware in graphics
- If the online truly works good
- If some publishers put aside their childish pride and the Wii U get games like Bioshock Infinite, GTA5, Watch Dogs etc...
- And the most obvious: THE GOOD GAMES! I am as excited for Bayonetta 2 as I am for Bioshock Infinite. But a new No more heroes, Metroid, 3D Mario, Zelda.... And the new stuff from Shiggy!
This is a very exciting time for us gamers. It's a bit like how the 3ds was such an awesome handheld (I say was since mine was stolen) and improved and ADDED from the DS(i). My fav handheld of ages... Can the Wii U be my fav home console? Well...Time wil tell... Creative developers using their tools good and making good games with what they have will be most important in the end... But it is important to have quality tools
WiiU has a wide range of genres for launch alone. so most can't really say that there isn't one title there that they wouldn't like to have
Soooooo midnight release or not..... Just look at those numbers
"tie ratio of 2.4 games for every console"
So it looks like Pachter is going to be wrong again. That's almost 2.5 games just for pre-orders at one store. Pachter scoffed at Nintendo, when they said they'd get a 4 game tie ratio in the launch window. They're already half way there from just one store, so people are getting more than only one, or two games with the system. The launch line-up is so diverse, that there's something for everyone. Whether you like FPS's, Platformers, Puzzle Platformers, RPG's, Racing, Fighting, Dancing, Singing, Mini-games, Fitness, Sports, or Action games, it pretty much has it all.
You and another person here disappoint me… evil dragon pony.
Inside joking aside…
GameStop has tricked me into a software preorder of one of those games above.
I have 3 of those on Pre-order at Gamestop! Lol these type of specs not only look good you know they're true!
I find it interesting that 4/5 of the top preorders (not including NintendoLand since a lot will be getting that with Deluxe) are NOT Nintendo developed. Hopefully that's a good indicator for future third party support...
Yeah supporting the third parties that support Nintendo! I'm happy to be buying from Ubisoft, Activision, and Warner Bros. they all seem to support Nintendo with things actually worth buying (ok maybe not Ubisoft so much, but still they were the only good thing at E3 this year). EA on the other hand still doesn't seem to care, and its alright because I don't care about them either
And they said Nintendo fans never buy third party
2.4 per console? That's very impressive.
I must say I'm surprised to see that Black Ops 2 is one of the top pre-orders, considering it is already out on the other platforms, where I could expect those target audiences to be.
I was pretty tempted to drop a pre-order on it, but wasn't sure if it was going to have a decent following on Wii U. I'd hate to snag it, only to find out the online wasn't very active. Guess that might not be too big of an issue.
I have 4 out of those 5 pre ordered myself and it's good to see those kinds of games at the top of the pre order list.
I didn't pre-order Mario, so I sure hope they have non-preorder copies available.
holy crap, that would mean gamestop is getting about a 3rd of North americas allotment until march, good luck finding one for whoever didnt preorder....
Know what the funny thing is? Assassin's creed will probably sell more on wii u then on vita.
Lol! So true. I hope the Wii U out-sells the Vita in its first month alone!
I hope those who pre-ordered Scribblenauts realize the game hit street date on Nov. 13th and if they didn't already pick it up, it could be gone.
