Notice anything similar above? In both the Japanese and North American Nintendo Direct features, we see the 'host' making a very specific hand gesture when mentioning the word 'direct'. Whether it's Iwata or Bill Trinen, both make sure to gesture when saying 'direct'. Internet, have fun with your new meme!

But has Reggie done it? If Reggie hasn't, then it's nothing.
OR, Reggie is all "I'm too cool for gestures. I'm gonna make that gesture at you with my eyes"
Well, since Iwata has done it. It's meme worthy because he's God tier troll when it comes to Nintendo.

Who cares what Reggie's doing. Double Satoru!!!

I think Reggie's gesture is the "knuckle point" he does when he means business or about to announce something important!
"You didn’t see anything"
Reggie does it too.
First the fruit, now this?! Nintendo Direct is just awesome. I want a new one. D:

Too much marketing manipulation crap like this and not enough polish on their actual console and services imo.
Yeah I noticed that before.
Iwata is creatng an Iwata-style and an Iwata character with sentences, gestures and humour.
This is a very good move communication wise. Sort of like Reggie is the meme part of Nintendo's communication, Iwata is characterized as well.
It's very important to communicate a certain image of your firm and this is one of the ingredients. Yamauchi used to be quite a strong-tempered president himself. Iwata has created his own style and it has an impact on how Nintendo is seen.
The first time I read this, I read polish as Polish, as in the nationality. And I'm thinking, "Polish? Polish what, sausage?"
Unofficial? Iwata's been doing it on purpose every time he says 直接 (direct(ly)).
I love Iwata, lol.
I like it when they add a little humour to the directs. It adds personality to something that could otherwise be very boring.
They're just showing their size...
I see what you did there.
