Out of those I went with Portal. Sorry Wind Waker.

Mario Galaxy was great but it had a terrible camera. The level designs in Galaxy 2 went a long way to fixing it but the problems were still there.

I went with Bioshock. Most fun I have ever had with a game and I have never looked at games the same way since. Most of these are fantastic choices though.

obligatory "no mario galaxy". I'm not going to vote for windwaker since it's probably one of my least favorite 3D Zelda games (i like it, but i like the other 3D zeldas more). Overall the list is missing better games

Out of those, I'd have to say Mario Galaxy.

Wind Waker hands down! (Not going to get anywhere close to the top though since it's "gay and for babies")

really? RDR? please, It looked nice, and had great presentation, but I didn't find it a great a game at all.

Also, and obviously no Mario Galaxy? They probabaly left it out to get hits, and more comments I think.

Either Half-Life 2, Mass Effect 2, or...Super Mario Galaxy.

No Mario Galaxy one or two, no Xenoblade Chronicles or The Last Story, no Uncharted 2, and no Resident Evil 4.

The voting list has fail written all over it. Not even going to bother with voting.

On a side note, anybody notice how the Spike VGAs were exempt of Nintendo titles in...oh, just about every category that's relevant?

wii sports instead of metroid prime are you having a laugh?

Hey, kids! It's a crap poll... Anyway. If I have to choose it's either WW or Bioshock. LOVE them both... Hard choice.

Wow. No games like Okami or Super Mario Galaxy?

Oh well. It's Half Life 2 then, definitely.

Since I'm a JRPG fan none of my personal faves are there, but out of those it's gotta be Portal or Shadow of the Colossus (both fantastic games).

If Metroid Prime were on there I'd probably vote for that. Game sitll gives me chills (the good kind) just thinking about it. Everything about it was amazing.

Shadow of the Colossus or Wind Waker out of those choices. I'd probably take Wind Waker just because I've put more hours into it.

Lol, Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime kills all those games; maybe Portal and Zelda come close...

Missing some great games, but aside from Wii Sports (and games I've never played), it's not a bad list. Just lacking.

Probably gonna go with Shadow of the Colossus.

@motherbra1n

Yes. The amount of games they could have chosen from Wii or Nintendo in place of Wii Sports is immense.

@GameCollector

While I agree it is missing a lot of games, I have to call you out on the last part.

You know why the lists are exempt of Nintendo titles?

What freaking Nintendo titles came out this year that would be worth putting on there?

Did you honestly see a GOTY Nintendo title this year? And I'm not counting Xenoblade (they didn't bring out The Last Story, XSEED did) since it's actually a 3 year old game. What games came out that you think deserve to be in all these categories you didn't name? Mario Party 9? Some ports (Kirby/Pikmin)? A few good DS/3DS games?

Nintendo didn't do a whole lot of anything this year that deserves awards aside from bringing Xenoblade over finally.

@majestik12

You kidding? I thought Red Dead was one of the greatest games in the past few years. D:

It may just be me, but I feel like none of those games really deserve to be on that list.

I said they didn't have many titles that were released on Nintendo systems in categories where they were very relevant.

Best handheld game? They put one 3DS title up against 3 Vita titles. And that title was, you guessed it, NSMB2, pitting it up against Gravity Rush, Sound Shapes, and LittleBigPlanet Vita whilst passing up everything else that was offered on the 3DS from Kid Icarus: Uprising to Resident Evil: Revelations. Best original score? Xenoblade Chronicles didn't even make the list, but CoDBLoPs2, Journey (that really overrated PSN game...wasn't even aware it had music to be honest.) and Max Payne 3 made it.

I'm just saying in general, the whole thing seems a little one-sided and just poor choices in quite a few categories. Like Mass Effect 3 for best RPG. I always thought that game was a TPS with RPG elements...like The Legend of Zelda is an action/adventure title with RPG elements. :?

As for the on-topic vote, they're passing up quite a few amazing titles that've been released in the past decade, and really need to just make the voting area...larger, ya know? Just make the list longer and add more choices. They're passing up some rather amazing titles in one area or another.

I don't think Portal is the best but Brawl or Twilight princess isn't on the list... The hell is Wii Sports doing there? F'ing limited stupid list.

I went with Portal, but Galaxy 2, RE4, Brawl, Melee, Metroid Prime take your pick, Monster Hunter Tri and I don't know, a couple of HANDHELD games probably deserve to be on that list!

We can vote for Wind Waker until they rig the vote for the show

The list is missing THE best game of the decade (FallOut3)... But from their picks I'd say either Portal or Half Life2

Guys....and girls....they deliberately didn't pick Nintendo's VERY best games of the last ten years because they don't want Nintendo to win. The Spike VGA's awards are obviously sponsored by Microsoft, it's basically an infomercial. Galaxy 2 and Metroid Prime would at least match Shadow of the Colosus or Red Dead Redemption, which I think are the very best non-nintendo games on that list. But they didn't want those games on the list 'cause then they might win...Wind Waker is just there to make it look 'fair and balanced'

The Wind Waker: Classic game (despite being easy) with loads of replay value. Easily the best Zelda game since Majora, if not Ocarina, IMO.
Half-Life 2: Classic game with excellent mods. Literally has infinite replay value. One of the best PC games ever.
World of Warcraft: An okay game I guess. Nothing really original, and pretty overrated IMO. I think another game should be on this list instead.
Shadow of the Colossus: Classic game.
Wii Sports: A great piece of technology, but not really a great game. This game has huge bugs and issues. It doesn't belong on this list IMO.
BioShock: A truly revolutionary game, but it was pretty slow and unbalanced. The sequel was far superior. I think BioShock 2 should be here instead. If that game were on here instead, I would strongly consider voting for it.
Portal: One of the most revolutionary and important games of all-time IMO.
Mass Effect 2: A classic game... but still pretty overrated. I don't think it belongs on this list.
Red Dead Redemption: A classic game that made the 'Wild West' era relevant in gaming (possibly for the 1st time ever).
Batman: Arkham City: A sequel to a revolutionary game that topped its' predecessor. It is a classic game.

The way I see it, you can't go wrong with the Wind Waker, Half-Life 2, Portal, Red Dead Redemption, or Batman: Arkham City.

I wish Mario Galaxy 2, Uncharted 2 or 3, Metroid Prime (which I think is the best single-player game of the past decade), the Grand Theft Auto III series (especially San Andreas) God of War (any of them), and Resident Evil 4 were on this list. But still, overall, it is a fairly decent list.

Still, I am seriously confused as to how at least any a Mario Galaxy game, God of War/Uncharted (given how huge those series are for Sony), and Resident Evil 4 didn't make this list. Also, no Halo of any sort confuses me.

Granted, there are other "great" and even "classic" games I did not mention, but those big name games are surprising not to see on this list, especially in place of Wii Sports (for whatever reason).

Aside from the Wind Waker and Wii Sports, this list is entirely a 3rd party developer list. So anyone say "Nintendo bias" needs to realize that Sony and Microsoft have zero 1st/2nd party titles on this list, and STFU.

@XCWarrior
Melee is over a decade old. I would have voted for it as the best game ever easily though. That game will never, ever, ever get old.

I decided to vote for Half-Life 2, since I think the game and its' mods overall trump the rest of the games.

My ranking of the games go: Half-Life 2 (#1), Portal (#2), the Wind Waker (#3), Batman: Arkham City (#4), Red Dead Redemption (#5), Mass Effect 2 (#6), BioShock (#7), Wii Sports (#8), and World of Warcraft (#9). I haven't played Shadow of the Colossus for more than 15 minutes. I plan on playing and beating it this winter, so don't kill me! :lol:

@Keith7878
There are no Microsoft games on there of any sort. No Halo. No Gears of War. No Dance Central. No Kinect Sports. Aside from 2 Nintendo games (the deserving the Wind Waker and the way overrated Wii Sports), there are no games by console manufacturers.

Red Dead or Mass Effect are probably the most fun. I liked Arkham Asylem better than city.
