Sounds like no US release. Oh well. Was going to buy for girlfriend. Gamecube BC and online play and Wiiware and SD card = completely irrelevant for this application. 0% chance she'll use any of that, ever.
I like the look, though it goes much better with my house which already has a strong red and black motif than hers.
Why Canada, though? I would think a budget-minded last-gen system would be more suited to emerging economies -- South America, Eastern Europe, Asia other than S. Korea and Japan, etc.
Who decided to add the weird angles to the sides? Not only do they make the system look like a cheap kiddie toy, they make it larger than it needs to be, and it's already not much smaller than a regular Wii.
This system has exactly two things going for it, from a customer standpoint:
1. It's unusual, so it may become popular with collectors (that is, if Nintendo doesn't make tons of them)
2. The non-motorized disk tray could be less susceptible to problems in the long run.
That's about it. It's barely smaller, it's not really cheaper considering you don't get games with it, and the features it cuts out weren't bothering anyone.
This is obviously the system to get for your grandparents if they don't already have one. I think they made this just for wii sports and all those games people that don't usually play video games like. I still think it's ugly...but kinda cool, it reminds me of like an old cd walkman.

In that case, though, it's a worse value than the current system. If this thing is $100, it will cost people $160 to buy it, Wii Sports, and Wii Sports Resort separately, as opposed to the current bundle which includes both games for $130.
So my question is, if this system isn't a good buy for people who don't own a Wii yet (since the great majority of those would want Wii Sports and/or Wii Sports Resort), and it's not for core gamers (due to its lack of major features), just who in the world is it for, besides the bean counters at Nintendo?

Exactly. People think because it is the newest, it automatically means the best. You'd think consumers would research, but they'll fall into Nintendo's trick.

So basically this system is a gimped, profit-making trick then, preying on ignorance.

This seems like a really cool collector piece, especially if it's a Canadian exclusive. Might be a nice investment.
Finally, a red gamecube
I noticed it was a toploader from the first image of it.
As for its looks, I don't like its design... Could be that ugly tone of red. It would probably look better on silver or white again.
If they were going to eliminate the online they should have put GCN compatibility back in and put the ports on the front, instant "Wiicube"
I am a collector... I can't wait to get it friday. Glad I live in Canada.
Aside from it looking like a lunchbox, I think it's kinda cool.
I was wondering the same thing, but apparently it has no USB ports so no internet at all.

hahahaha, it looks like something out of the early 80s. Love it
looks old school i love it, too bad the functionality is garbage..
It looks awesome, but too bad about the lack of internet and SD card slot.
Reminds me of the GameCube. \(^¬^)/ ~ ♥
I'm pretty sure thats a single USB port on the back right of the system.... Could be mistaken.

Why do I want this?
I wanna buy it put it in a 360 slim box and give it to my cousin lol

KILL IT WITH FIRE
@Jerome
Is that $130 in Canadian dollars or US?
Pretty much the same thing now.
It isn't even that much smaller...
I noticed it instantly.
