Hopefully people are realizing it's the same game every year and they'll just stop buying it.

Only exception is Black Ops 2.
CoD really needs to stop being released annually and they might actually fix the darn lag compensation, and make more memorable maps. Oh, and a brand new engine is a must.

Black ops 2 is still the same damn game.... Nice to see some lag.

Hopefully the uber casual gamers that only buy Call of Booty games will learn to play games other than Call of Booty. I mean, there's nothing wrong with them liking Call of Booty, but they could like something else for a change. Who knows, maybe they'll like other games more!

@Johnknight1

It's unfortunate that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (funny how it was the last Call of Duty game to be numbered) was one of those games that caught on. Nowadays, there's shi+ now.

7.4 mil is still ridiculous. I'm no fan of COD, but let's call it a failure when its back down to maybe just 2 or 3 million.

It's sad to see Activision do this, year after year. They have so much money, but still won't take risks! I mean, how hard would it be to FINALLY make a proper sequel to Crash Twinsanity, or even reboots or remakes! I don't care, just give us the damn Bandicoot! At least put him in the Skylanders, it's not like he'd be out of place...

Yeah, but, don't tell anyone :lol:

Besides, dont get your hopes up GN readers, with the loads of cash Blops2 brought, CoD is safe and sound.

Too bad this is meaningless comparison.

Even then that's all CoD4: Modern Warfare did and that game was fucking huge when it first came out.

I think we'll see CoD sales get another massive boost once next gen hardware starts coming out. The spectacle is a big part of that series so I expect the graphics jump will only help it.

Lately I feel Treyarch's games are the only ones really taking strides in helping the series evolve in some fashion. Infinity Ward's last two games, while certainly not bad, were too samey. Modern Warfare 1 was a pretty big deal when it was released because it was a nice change up for the series (going from WWII, a setting that was considered overused at the time, and putting it in the modern day), and like it or not it did help to influence certain aspects of modern shooters (though not completely, I feel Halo was more of an influence [especially in the controls department, since it helped to modernize stuff like dedicated melee and grenade buttons]).

Modern Warfare 2 and 3, however, felt like they should have just been one game instead of two, especially given how they didn't really do much to try and change up the series (heck, even the HUD design in MW3 was exactly the same as MW2). Treyarch, meanwhile, have not only been giving us the tight controls and varied weapons and locales we've come to expect from the series, but they've also been giving us more interesting narratives and characters. Nothing against people like Soap and Price, but I found characters like Viktor Reznov, Alex Mason, and Frank Woods to be more interesting characters than most of the MW cast, and Raul Menendez a more compelling villain than Vladimir Makarov. Black Ops 2 also allows for the overall progression of the story and levels to be less linear than before, thanks to the fact the player can finally influence how the story plays out. The use of a near future setting is also a good change of pace, as it allows us to use weapons and tech that can keep some aspects of the gameplay feeling fresh.

I'll wait and see what Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer have coming up next for their game next year, but for now I'll more than likely just be waiting to see what Treyarch brings to the table in 2014.

Actually Call of Duty is the definitive "hardcore" game, it stole the crown from GTA!

"Casuals" don't play Call of Duty, they play Nintendo instead.

Skylanders was one hell of a big risk if you ask me. now it's Activisions highest grossing franchise.
