THQ goes into more discussion of why Metro: Last Light for Wii U was dropped

We know that THQ supports the Wii U, but it's clear that perhaps they won't be doing as much software support as once planned.

Well I'm glad that people at THQ are at least acknowledging that the system that people have in their home's is more capable and could play THQ titles in the future.

It's up to South Park, Saints 4, Company of Heroes and Metro to possibly save THQ. I don't want to see anymore lay offs or studio closings. :c

EA has lowered support.
THQ has lowered support.
Tons of third party games are not coming.
Ken Levine of course isn't offering support.
No word from most Japanese developers.

This feels like N64 levels of bad. Outside of Ubisoft, its as if the system barely exists.

@ZS The Wiiu's start is better than the 3DS and the wii (and the gamecube?) So no, not N64 bad.

Well you can't blame them the early dev kits were probably too weak to warrant the support.

Also 3rd party exclusives are what convinces gamers to buy a system along with 1st party not multiplats.

I believe the first dev' kit had 3 cores @ 440MHz. This could explain the problems. Anyway, I'm not personnaly interested by their games. I'd love to have more support from Japanese developpers though...

send playboy mags to developers with the message "make games for the Wii U and you'll receive more"?

As far as Ken Levine goes, he atleast has commented that it's not HIS decision, it's 2K's.

It took a while for the 3DS to gets its games, too. I'm feeling all developers are super reluctant to spend any money except on things that already made money.

As much as I love the Wii U, I fully understand and agree with THQ. They are on their last leg, and they cannot afford to put a high profile title on an un-proven platform with a (so far) small install base. I wish them luck. I'm sure they will throw more support our way when, or if, they get back on their feet.

(Free advice THQ: The Wii U has no need for a UDraw tablet...)

Well, it does appear from early reports now the Wii U may have issues with LOTS of stuff happening on the screen(s). Warriors 3 solves it by pop-up/pop-in characters, and even Nintendo Land...yes, Nintendo Land...has major pop-up/pop-in issues. If the Wii U was a major power house, I wouldn't think a game like Nintendo Land would need to have banners/boxes randomly around the "plaza" pop-in/pop-up. It's very odd seeing a first party title use pop-in/pop-up textures so much, and it's really noticeable once you realize they use it.

If theres just only a million consoles sold, theres no reason to port the entire publishers catalogue into it. EA alone could exhaust the platform, and would start destructive competition with it self. Therefore every one takes the trip into the money table, one ticket at the time, until the table expands.

Metro would have been more expensive to make, than the rewards that would have been expected from this young system. As they are not known to be optimizing wizards, and the Wii U is very different architecture to last gen consoles, its perhaps better, that they concentrate on them and not take too many risks(I like risks though).

Well THQ is tight on money right now. They are in trouble. I don't think they're in any position to take a lot of chances.

The article doesn't say they won't be doing much support of the Wii U; it says they jumped to conclusions with the early dev kits and bailed out! Why? because NOW they see Metro can run on Wii U and other companies are bringing games just like it if not bigger. ie. Aliens C.M and Battlefield 4, See I'll bet other companies did the same thing and are feeling the same way right now.
