@Deep4t: I think you misread the post. It's saying that the changes led to rumors, not that the rumors are true.
No, creepypasta are not rumors, they are just stories made to creep people out. Besides the creepypasta in question didn't show up until a few years ago. This is the third time in the past couple weeks that Did You Know Gaming has not done their research.
The key point is, though, that the theme is not changed between versions at all.
