Nice, good to see the 3DS games invading that list with only 2-3 Vita games.
I'm almost offended by how almost no game of the year lists have Kid Icarus Uprising even nominated as the best handheld game.
Love or hate I feel. It's probably my number one worst game I've played on 3DS - absolute garbage.
Like, I understand not likeing it, but you have to be an incredibly jadded person to think that. I pity your outlook on life if this is how you see videos games. lol
They probably didn't play it, and if they did they were probably disappointed it wasn't blops2. :/ Another GoTY with not even a nomination, bah.
They have played it, and reviewed it with quite a low score.
Both Kid Icarus: Uprising and Virtue's Last Reward are my favourite 3DS games. VLR really deserves its win, hopefully it can win other awards too. I do believe that Kid Icarus deserved to at least be nominated too.
Ah yeh, I went and had a look and in the first paragraph of their review...
"your ability to run is limited, and the zombies can easily keep pace with your character at walking speed. Attempting to charge past the horde can lead to receiving some painful glancing hits or getting surrounded by the undead."
Hmm...
"Firearms are faster and deadlier, but are not as readily available as the cricket bat. A shortage of weapons is not uncommon for the survival horror genre, but ZombiU’s emphasis on fighting makes this scarcity sting. New weapons and ammo are uncommon, and can be lost if your character dies and you cannot recover his or her backpack after respawning."
That last part is just a flat out lie.

What? The map/radar and inventory managment are a genius idea and I hope other games follow this formula, I don't understand how they could say that at all.
Basically the review reinforces my belief that they think the likes of Blops2, Resident Evil 6 and Left 4 Dead1/2 are survival horror games. Which they aren't. They're action games with zombies.
Not having Kid Icarus Uprising on the list is a total rip, but Virtue's Last Reward is definitely worthy of being Portable game of the year.
And, again, no Uprising. I just don't know what to do anymore.
The game has one of the best soundtracks ever, it was the strongest title to come out on the 3DS during 2012, had a brilliant villain and other great characters, tons of great content and yet no one recognizes it.
I have nothing against Zero Escape (it is fantastic), but where was Kid Icarus: Uprising?
I can't even get Gamespot's player to work. T_T
But still, there's absolutely no reason for Kid Icarus: Uprising to NOT be at least nominated. Touch controls, be damned.

Was just playing ZombiU-... And uhm... It's a SURVIVAL HORROR game NOT an ACTION FPS.... And it sure would have at least gotten a plae on the list. Truly awesome!
Not to be that guy, but I barely pay any kind of attention to these lists anymore, because a lot of my personal tastes don't meet well with critics for whatever the reason. Yes, I believe that Kid Icarus: Uprising and ZombiU are the best games so far on their respective systems, and yes they should have been nominated. But they weren't.

They're the idiots who made that atrocious unboxing video where they didn't know what anything was and couldn't be bothered looking at the box to see what the parts were! (not to mention their low score of Skyward Sword because they couldn't work out the controls).
And yea, they rated ZombiU 4.5/10
They're a joke and don't deserve any attention.
I don't like GameSpot but I don't get why AC3 and Darksider2 is on the list. They are both available on PS3 and XBox360. Why didn't they do the games that were original to the WiiU and not multiplateforms. The exclusives should be the focus.
