I am a huge Streets of Rage fan. I'd love to see a new one come around, but it doesn't look like that's in the cards. Streets of Rage 1, 2, 3 composer Yuzo Koshiro said that Streets of Rage 4 was proposed and prototyped 10 years ago, but was squashed by SEGA. As of right now, Koshiro knows nothing of a return for the series.

I'm also a huge Streets of Rage fan,SOR2 is on my personal top 10 games of all time list and I own all three games for the Genesis and on the Wii virtual console. It's always heartbreaking to me when I hear that there could of been a sequel
Streets of Rage 2 in particular was a HUGE part of my childhood. Ahhh the good old days of beatemups. The Golden Axe series was great too. I'd love for a reboot, but it seems unlikely
I really don't know what is wrong with Sega these days. They have so many great franchises that they're just sitting on, letting them fade into obscurity. When exactly are they going to capitalize on something other than Sonic? I miss the good old Sega of the Genesis days.
As said! SOR 2 is also one of my Top10 games of all time!
I loved SOR 1&2, they are awesome, great music, great gameplay. SEGA really lost it's mind.
It a shame, that they don't merge with Nintendo and make games like the did for their own consoles back then.
Since SEGA went multi platform, nothing good happended.

Sega is having a financial problem, so they are only focusing on the franchises that are selling well for them.
You do know Sega hasn't sustained profits since the Genesis days.
Sega has lost money nearly every year since Saturn hit the market up until now.
I think if Streets of Rage were to make a comeback today, it should be a crossover game with Final Fight, which was SoR's biggest rival back in the 90's.
OMG the music was Awesome! I remember going to the options menu and be listening to the stage music, I have all the songs on my iPod
