"It's not about games, there's a perception issue. We can be a part of that solution, and we're ready to do that." - Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello
There clearly are still some people that just don't get what video games are about, but they're more than happy to spout incorrect statements about them. Glad to see EA is willing to combat those ideas.

You're off to a good start there, John.
Oh wait...
If you're ready to do that EA, then start at least making games that even a sweat shop child laborer wouldn't be embarrassed of.
Seriously, you guys are like the Wal-Mart of gaming... But expensive and self-entitled.
I think EA (just like Activision) could only make that already bad/skewed perception worse.
Wait, EA is our defense?
Yeah....no
EA ... you are part of the problem... ... UNPRECEDENTED SUPPORT FOR NINTENDO.... ... ..
nope.
You could start by stopping the spamming of franchises year after year. Oh and when you say you're going to support Wii U, actually do it.
I think you guys misunderstand what he's talking about. He's talking about the perception of video games being a detriment to society.
They're still not helping though.
Please RMC, EA is a large part of why people think so poorly of us. The best thing EA's PR department can do is keep their mouths shut and stay out of it.
It actually makes me more sympathetic to this Senator. If I was on the outside looking in, and saw a fanbase spending extra money on content obviously gutted from games, paying Microsoft to access their Netflix/Youtube subscriptions, and paying for VC titles they already bought, I'd probably assume they were too dumb to understand the issues at work too.
And let's not forget that Dead Space 3 launches really soon, complete with it's own cash shop. Now you can get the F2P experience in a full priced retail title!!!!!!!
Maybe EA should work on the perception that they suck and hate Nintendo
They said today the Wii U is not next-gen and that they're focusing on "4th gen" whatever the hell that means.

Wait one second. The company responsible for Your Mom Hates Dead Space 2 is going to help public perception of gaming?
Oh man, I completely forgot about this.
Dante's Inferno too.
Hypocrites, the lot of 'em.
Hmm...They say the Wii U is last gen, then they say don't count the Big N out, and now this.... Hmmm, Double minded much?
He never said that. All of you are jumping to concludion because of RMC's headlines, hell, you dont even understand what he said to begin with. Read the full quote. He praised the WiiU in the response, plus defending it from its aparent low sales, and said 720 and PS4 are "other next-gen consoles". What is gen 4? Thats a metric EA uses for THEIR OWN GAMES. Yes, its graphics based, but come on, their wiiu games are current gen ones adapted for the console. EA's sport games have lots of potential for gamepad use, or two gamepads, they obviously know it.
"It's in the game".... how ironic
Hey, you say whatever you think is going to help sales. EA clearly doesn't want you to remember any of this.
Did this promotion even work? I know Dead Space 2 sold solid enough, didn't know if it was gangbusters though.
A company whose core IPs have been described as "sports and shooters" probably is not the best one to enter into this debate.
the perception is reality how much did cod bring , or battlefield or gta ,
what about fixing the
perceptionreality that EA is a douchebagStuff like Army of Two is really going to help change things for the better.
By "help change the preception" we at EA mean that we're going to build a Super Pac-Man machine and throw a ton of quarters into it. Problem solved. We are EA. Experience our mediocrity on PS3, Xbox and PC. It's in the game!
um, it's not a "perception" issue. but perhaps you're all right, and not just playing ignorant.perhaps there is absolutely nothing twisted about war simulators, crime simulators, etc. i guess i must have just perceived it wrong...
i wonder, is that anything like playing a game "wrong"? did i just forget that my moral compass has a "B" button...
