Two Tribes believes they could make a 'damn fine' StarFox game for Wii U

A portion of a NintyChronicle interview with Collin van Ginkel of Two Tribes...

NC: Is there a company or franchise that you really want to work with someday, if given the opportunity?

CvG: I think we could make a damn fine Star fox game for Wii U. Yes, a classic Star fox game would be awesome to work on.

Kamiya called dibs. Although he could work on a badass Takamaru game.

So many developers are willing to make Starfox games for Nintendo but they won't budge...

Well I wouldn't want them to.

I'd rather have Platinum making it. But still, I want a new, fresh Star Fox, it doesn't matter who develops it as long as they do it right. And by right I mean someting like Assault but more polished, and hopefully with a storyline reboot (or they can continue after 64 seeing as they remade it for the 3DS).

I like the idea of epic Retro Studios Metroid/Star Fox mashup better. Next Level Games or Monster Games could also develop a killer Star Fox game. Get Dylan Cuthbert involved as well.

Two Tribes is a good developer but I'd like to see them tackle a Nintendo puzzle IP (possibly a 2D/2.5D game) instead of Star Fox, they've proven to be quite skilled with that. I'm thinking something along the lines of Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble, Pokémon Pinball or a 2D Donkey Kong for eShop (maybe a GameBoy Donkey Kong '94 remake). Ice Climber would be nice to see resurrected as well.

Oh, and if Intelligent Systems is done with Advance Wars maybe Two Tribes could help reinvent that for eShop/retail.. time to start pitching Two Tribes, you can thank me later for the ideas with a big fat check. 8)

Well a new Starfox is far more likely this gen than a Metroid one, so...

Why do people think it's such a hard task to make a Star Fox game? Here's how you do it:

1. Make it on-rails.
2. Take inspiration from both Star Fox 64 and the original Star Fox on SNES.
3. Throw in lots of nods to the original two games in addition.
4. Bring back old Star Fox characters that are worth bringing back. Andross, Bill, Katt, Star Wolf, Dash.
5. Release it.

@Plan9 The fake Starfox/Metroid game was the dumbest and most fanfic derived idea I've ever heard.

I'd like a new Starfox game with either just classic on-rails gameplay, or a combination of that and Rogue Squadron-like objective-based open areas. I'd also like it to have lots of totally new content, including a setting other than the Lylat system, and a villain other than Andross. I would much prefer this to another game that tries weird, experimental gameplay and rehashes the same content for the umpteenth time.

Unfortunately, I know this isn't likely to happen, as Nintendo loves experimenting with gameplay and doesn't seem to like focusing on new content.

Nah, Treasure's the best for the job.

If they ever do it free flight instead of on rails, then I hope it plays like the Rogue Squadron games.

Still doesn't make it any less awesome in some kind of twisted genre-bending way.. Both franchises could use fresh ideas and new audiences, so why not. If anybody could make such a crazy idea to work it's Nintendo and Retro.

They haven't done anything close to proving they'd make a good StarFox game.

Why not? Because it's a camp, nonsense idea that undermines some of the major essential qualities of Metroid.

Only way I'd go for it is if it were a racing game that involved other Nintendo characters that had flying vehicles.

With a puzzle platformer like Toki Tori 2 running at 30FPS on a Wii U, a StarFox game by them would probably run at 12FPS... Just like the SNES game, for additional retro feel, of course!
