Climax mystery project was Prince of Persia, no longer in development

"The screenshots in question are from a prototype created by one of our partners, not a game currently in development. Prince of Persia remains an important element in Ubisoft’s portfolio, but we’re currently focusing on other brands and have nothing new to share at this time." - Ubisoft

No shock there, as we all could tell from the images that the game was Prince of Persia related. Sad to see it didn't continue forward. It looked like a PoP that went back to its roots.

Sucks the 2008 PoP game will probably never get a proper conclusion. :( As much as I liked the Sands of Time series of games, did we really need two other games set in that continuity just to coincide with the 2010 movie? (I say two because the Wii game was pretty much an entirely different game from the HD versions, especially since the Wii version didn't use the time powers)

I also can't help but feel Assassin's Creed is kind the reason why PoP has taken a backseat as of late, and I love AC (remember AC even started life as a PoP game before becoming a new IP because Ubi didn't want to risk another "Warrior Within" situation with a "darker and grittier" PoP).

@Eternal Rain

Me and my wife have had our fingers crossed hard for a sequel to PoP08 too... It had some flaws, but in some ways was also my favorite.

I definitely found it the most enjoyable from a gameplay perspective.

The story warrants continuance, and the issues can be ironed out.

I think that was the best one, artistically speaking. Loved those colors.

Looks like there's a Facebook page asking for a sequel... nowhere near the amount of support the Majora's Mask remake has, but at least it's something. Almost 200 people so far.

If you want "back to it's roots" then you should definitely play the Wii version of Forgotten Sands.
