Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, special interview vol 2. - sound designer
DJ Sandou:Hello. To begin: what was your role in the game Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate?
C: Hello, there. Thank you very much for having me for this interview. The main role I held in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate was as a sound designer. I worked largely to create better quality sound effects (re-sampling, etc.), as well as brand new sound effects.
I also mixed the background music and ambience into surround-sound. As you know, the Wii U has a unique gamepad named Wii U Game Pad, so coming up with ways to integrate the audio and the gamepad in a complimentary way was also part of my job.
DJ Sandou:It sounds like you worked as both sound designer and sound programmer, even thought about music presentations.
C: Yes, but I’m originally a sound designer. We had a rather small sound team for the project, so that condensed the work. Though, I can easily say that it was a worthy experience; I learned a lot throughout the project.
