GoNintendo 'End of Day' thought - Nintendo's E3 Direct: What are you most excited for?

Time for me to get some rest. Things were a bit quiet today, most likely because of the Xbox One talk still going on. Don't worry, our Nintendo news is on its way! E3 is just around the corner and Nintendo has plenty to show off. The calm before the storm! See you in a few, short hours.

I think by now, we've all had a good amount of time to get over the fact that Nintendo isn't holding a traditional E3 press conference. The Big N has their reasons. Some people are upset, others don't see the big deal. That's not the point for today's article. Let's move past all that and talk about the fun stuff!

Nintendo has already told us that they'll have a Nintendo Direct before E3, which is definitely exciting. This is the online presentation that is going to replace what Nintendo usually does. We don't know how long it'll be or when it'll air, but we do know it'll be jam-packed with all kinds of software we want to see.

When you're hyping up an event that will showcase Mario, Legend of Zelda, Mario Kart and Smash Bros., you're talking about a fan's dream come true. We know for sure we're going to see those titles. We're all hoping that there are even more secrets just waiting to be shown. Will we end up seeing what Retro is working on?

I'm turning to you guys to see what you're most excited to spot during Nintendo's E3 Direct. Were the games listed above all you need to be happy? Are you hoping for a brand-new IP? Are you holding out for exciting secret announcements? What could Nintendo show to make this E3 the best for you?

Anything Zelda and Smash related. But if we're getting into specifics, I'm hoping to see TWWHD again along with a trailer for Smash Bros. I wanna be blown away like I was with Brawl's unveiling!

And of course if they've got more to show on ALttP II I'd gladly welcome that as well!

I'm excited for pretty much everything that we know they will show plus whatever surprised they may have.

3D Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros., Zelda WW HD, Zelda ALTTP 2, Mario and Luigi 4, Yarn Yoshi, Yoshi's Island, X, FE x SMT, Mario Golf ... On the Nintendo side of things, that right there is already a dream line-up, so I'll be happy with whatever at this point. (They might not show all of those, of course, but either way, they have a lot of great already-announced games to choose from on top of new Mario, Kart, and Smash and whatever surprises they may have.)

yes nintendo titles are games but i was referring to the wii u, as in, it will only play my nintendo games since they don't really have any good 3rd exclusives and if it's multi-platform i will be playing them on ps4.
Don't get me wrong i'll play any good 3rd party game,

but how many of those exists?
3? two arent even out.

wonderful 101
Bayonetta 2

Tank tank tank LOL :D Though I must admit that I did have a couple of hours of fun with it ;)

Well... I love ZombiU. It's a great Survival horror and now with the patch the bugs are even gone. Oh and the always adictive Monster Hunter 3U. And my next game might just be Lego City. I don't even have any Nintendo games on the U yet

But yeah. Good Nintendo games are also coming =)

the heck how did you know rmc ? it's on
I just hope this time they won't plaster their site with all the reveal info, like they did last year with the wii u controller, i want to watch the nintendo direct without spoilers , it's fun that way .... come to think of it, the best way to avoid any spoiler will be to just go on my wii u .
I do hope i can watch it live live

at the same time i don't think wonderful 101 could even exist elsewhere, it's close esthetically to line up heroes and a great take on action game. And we know bayonetta 2 could not have been done elsewhere, no one was willing to pay. Zombi u and monster hunter have their fans, two niche genre obviously but people like those .

on the other hand. The 15 exclusives whatever x1, the ps4 games, like that video said, maybe they forgot to show them," but don't worry they're about men with guns "

@Neji

Zombi U, LEGO City (technically not Nintendo), Scribblenauts series (console-wise), Sonic: Lost World.

Maybe others.

I'm looking forward to the whole thing, but what I am REALLY hoping for is...

-Mario Paint for Wii U

-A new Donkey Kong Country game

This is what would get me excited enough for Wii U to go out and buy one same day, aside from the reveals they've already confirmed ~

Confirmation of a new F-Zero game in development
A new Metroid game in the works, with Sakamoto at the helm and R&D1 developing. 2D, instead of some new type of 2.5d gameplay where the developer self-imposes some retarded limitations and ruins the gameplay.
In-game video chat being considered as a feature for Smash Bros. at the very least, if not Mario Kart as well

yeah I'm not holding my breath

(And by 'in-game', I do not mean wireframe models. >:()

I think they need good games.

Xenoblade 2, The Last Story, Pandora's tower, Dillons Rolling Western, Harmo Knight, were all new IPs by Nintendo. I just want good games.

New GAMEPLAY is much better than a new IP. Sony unveiled Killzone, Resistance, and MAG all this gen, those are new IP and play just like every other shooter. It's about new gameplay experiences.

Uhhhh... Killzone 2 had a multiplayer structure that was substantially different and substantially better than most FPS games boast even today. Resistance 1 and 3 have crazy weapons and old school style health regen, plus firefights are bigger and more desperate than in most shooters. MAG sucks - and I can't stress that enough, it's really just a bad bad game - but if you think it plays like most other shooters, then you haven't played MAG.
There's not much variation you can apply to the shooter genre considering it's almost always going to involve pointing a gun at someone and shooting them but if these games 'play like every other shooter' then why is it so hard to get people to admit that the NSMB games are practically carbon copies of one another (with ever increasing level design quality at the very least), or that half of Nintendo's franchises have had around the same level of variation from where they started (or shifted to 3D) as these games have had from the typical shooter formula...

The best E3 ever for me would include:

-Smash Bros. trailer showing off new mechanics and characters (first/third party). In other words, just like the Brawl reveal.

-Wind Waker HD release date

-A sneak peek at the next Zelda even if it's just for half a minute.

-More on the new Xeno.

-Retro's project

-More surprising third party collaborations or exclusive deals

-Something new that isn't a Wii ____ or bite-sized eshop game.

Good points.

And as much as some people act like Sony only ever produces FPSes, let us also not forget that one of their big new first-party IPs this past generation was a super-easy, cutesy, E-rated platformer. Where was the Nintendo equivalent in the online/multiplayer focused, M-rated shooter genre?

If the Wii U is the system where Nintendo learns from the mistakes of the Wii, E3 is where they should show they plan on making an effort at going after those markets that they have previously left untapped.

If Nintendo get it right, partnering with Sega could be the thing of dreams! I was never a big Sega fanatic myself, but I would bet a small amount that there are plenty of others out there who would lap up the Wii U and 3DS if Sega brought many of their old IP's back to life exclusively to Nintendo consoles!

As for this Nintendo Direct, I'd love to see Retro's work and I'm hoping it'll be either a new Metroid on Wii U or something completely new...I suspect Metroid myself, the HUD will work amazingly with the GamePad!

A new Zelda teaser, please without cartoony graphics! WWHD may be a good purchase but a new Zelda without repeats of challenge styles would be super duper!

Mario Kart...hmm, never really got 'into' MK games since the SNES, not sure why, had MK on Wii, DS and 3DS but none got heavy play.

No idea on the rest...I do think there'll be an F-Zero teaser of sorts, how about some Pilot Wings?

Some new IP's from Nintendo themselves will be good to see, but I think many sales will be made by existing franchises...I reckon some serious showing of existing brands, topped by a new IP which people will be desperate for!

Nah, don't worry, I'm sure the next Mario Kart won't come to the Wii.

I want one more like Double Dash. It was very unique and good. And I miss Unique Items for all characters. :(

I mean to say don't make the game 'like' Mario kart wii

Thanks to that NeoGaf rumor, I want a Star Tropics U game.

Mostly I want Nintendo to get away from its own franchises and declare that the Wii U is a console that can compete with the other two. We know that Nintendo will have its franchises. And that isn't enough to sell the Wii U right now.
