No backwards compatibility, insulting people who like BC, used game gouging, FORCED kinect 2.0, cloud saving+online requirement=ALWAYS ONLINE, forced download from disc, after which, the disc is worthless, and 500GB non-removable HDD.

Yeah. Microcrap just sold a buttload of Wii U's. I haven't stopped laughing for 2 DAYS.

Part of it is that for two generations, the XBox rode the backs of the hardcore games while the XBox One (at least the presentation) but games second to all the social and non-gaming features of the console. Then again, with the Kinect, they should have seen that one coming. Of the games they did show, none of them were mind blowing (much like the PS4 conference). XBox One will also not allow indie devs to self publish even though that's the fastest growing market. There is also an annoyance the "connect to the internet once a day" could lead to always on DRM as people spell out doom scenarios where the internet tragically dies at their house/apartment. The console will once again be less powerful than the PS4, of the eight cores, I believe at least one is dedicated to making the Kinect interface run smoothly. The system is ugly as sin. Depending on how the account system works, lending games will be a pain and we're not quite sure how renting games works either. It's not backward compatible with either 360 or XBLA games. People were also upset with the focus on sports games even though those are huge money makers and system sellers. The controller is nice though.

The biggest problem with it, and with most things in this industry right now, is that we just don't know enough information. And I'm not talking about price. These businessmen and women will use double-speak and circumvent questions so they don't have to be honest and it does nothing but make us gamers jaded.

@MAGNUS-8M

Here's a list of problems people have with it:

- It must connect to the internet once per 24 hours to be used.

- It requires you to have the Kinect hooked up. the Kinect is always watching and listening.

- As you mentioned, it supposedly blocks used games, though other sources say it doesn't. The popular rumor is that if you put in a used game, you can unlock the right to play it by paying a fee.

- It's not backward compatible (though for reference, the PS4 isn't either).

My biggest problem with the XB1 is how it was presented. The whole conference was spent on television and sports and televised sports, with a little focus on Call of Duty and Forza... so pretty much a whole hour of things I don't give a crap about.

I'm giving them a chance to win me back at E3, but unless they do, I'm dismissing their new machine as the "FratBox" and getting me a PS4 instead. The PS4 reveal was pretty lame too, but at least there were games.

No backwards compatibility.

I've forgotten everything else.

And indies can't self-publish on the XBone. MS might as well have thrown the indies to Nintendo and Sony

I remember when Pachter was loved and was mostly correct with his predictions. Now he's a joke.

It's so funny my friend finally bought one yesterday, I have been trying to talk her into it for awhile and after we laughed so hard at the terrible Xbox One reveal she took advantage of a Gamestop trade in bonus offer and went for it.

oh man I knew this is going to happen, I've never been too fond of microsoft, but with this Xbox II think the only way I would ever consider buying one is 5 years before released if they have enough exclusives, I thin I go for Wii U and PS4 in that order, My Wii PS3 formula ended pretty well in this generation, and never had a xbox... never regret about that though

...well, I believe I've got my answers... o_o; Wow. So in other words, they're REALLY playing to the industry side more than the consumer, almost like they forgot the consumer is also watching these things. Either that, or they're banking on making money on mostly the casual 'I don't know what's going on, but I really want hi-tech sports games' crowd.

I really REALLY hope Nintendo takes full advantage of the hype boost they just garnered..... or MS garnered for them? You get me.

I dunno if Xbox had anything to do with it, but I am glad to see it.

Weird that the cut in March was no help.

Well... Thank you MS for showing of the crap XO :D

But yeah, it really did seem like people were waiting for this unveiling to decide if they wanted the U or not. Good grief what a crap show MS had. What were they thinking?

Very interesting.

I guess Wii U does start to look a bit better in comparison when the competition is determined to shoot themselves in the foot repeatedly. The response to Xbone doesn't sound good so far, and it's very likely that PS4 is going to be doing things very similarly. It is very possible that the game industry will get a rude awakening when initial sales data comes in for MS and Sony's new systems.

Haha those GIFs were awesome, thanks for that. :)

I watched the Xbox One event and it was pretty lackluster. I like the NFL and Madden is okay, but you don't need to buy it every year unless you're super into it. The other sports stuff I don't give a crap about. I have no interest in a Halo TV show. Quantum Break sounded interesting, but I'd need to see more of it or play a demo. I don't care about Call of Duty or Forza. I don't care about the TV features beyond the NFL stuff since I watch all of my shows via other means anyways. Then you have all the stupid BS they decided to do apparently. No BC, the used games fees, the Kinect requirement, the rumored movie viewing fees, the DRM-esque check-in, etc. It's like Microsoft said "what can we do to piss off our customer base the most?" And then they implemented all of those ideas.

But if this helps Nintendo, then so be it. Wii U has a ton of potential but there just aren't enough good/great games for it yet. Most of the stuff on it are shovelware, old ports, new ports but available on other systems, and then the eShop stuff, which is fine and all, but the Virtual Console stuff doesn't appeal to me unless it's a game I haven't played before.

Looks like gamers are making up their minds now that all three hardware makers have shown their next gen cards. I can't wait until all these arm chair analysts and wannabe journalists have to eat crow.

Man, all those gifs are awesome.
If I ever get a second console, it'll be a PS4.
I'll say it again, if Mi¢ro$oft cannot save the Xbox One at E3, then nothing will.

Buying a Wii U over an Xbox One is a vote for a better future for the industry.
