Another good game hidden from non-native audiences by region locking.

I've never even HEARD of this game until this article, so I don't think it's really a groundbreaking game that's well known. I understand their reasoning, as it would likely get abysmal sales over here, EVEN if it was retail form.

Medabots is a really old anime series that never really had an audience when it came to video games. Even as a kid, I kinda knew the toys were a passing fad.

What makes the person's argument silly is how he used the Senran Kagura Burst localization as his reasoning for this game's localization.

Just saying.

Damn, I would love to play a medabot game at least once. That was a good anime, abut I didn't know there was games about it back in the time.

I don't see why people like XSEED. Sure, they've localized a few games that probably wouldn't have been localized otherwise, but for every game they do localize, there are many more games like this one that they refuse to even consider for petty reasons.

I don't see how "no one here even knows about or enjoys the series" is a petty reason. You want someone with intricate knowledge of the series when localizing it, as well as understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the brand as whole.

.....and the Japanese language. Don't forget about that. No amount of region free-ness will turn Japanese into a language most English speakers can understand in order to even play the game.

This is the first I've heard about this "Medabots" thing being good, too.

Wow congratulations for stating the obvious? However, you are quite mistaken. There are plenty of communities for these types of games that never make it outside of Japan who create comprehensive basic guides online on how to navigate through them. These games are not as plot-heavy and can be enjoyed without a full knowledge of Japanese.

Just because you never venture into games without first having studied the language for years doesn't mean that other people don't.

And the 27 Medabots fans in the US go to bed sad tonight. There is no market for this.
