Dear Reader:
Suda51 explains what makes his game unique, interested in social gaming
A portion of an IGN interview with Suda51…
IGN: What makes a Suda 51 game unique? Does it have common elements that you like to include as much as you can?
Goichi Suda: Oh, I’m not really sure. You know, I write the stories myself and I think of design when I write. In that sense, you get the punk style. And I always think about making people laugh and providing shock elements to it too.
IGN: Shadows of the Damned seems almost uncharacteristically straight-forward for a game you’re fronting – because it’s not that challenging thematically. What kind of game would you like to tackle after this?
Goichi Suda: There are just so many – so many! I’m kind of thinking of social games, but not just to connect with other people, but to create a huge community. I want to take the vision that I have and make it into a real game. So, even on consoles, to create a completely new social community – that’s the challenge I’d like to tackle!
