Ubisoft - Driver: San Francisco's 'shift' mechanic could lead to spinoffs

GN Version 3.1

“I think we’d like to explore Shift a little bit more [after Driver: San Francisco, but the Driver brand is all about the driving so future games in the series aren’t always going to have Shift necessarily. …there might be a branch-off of the series where we could [use Shift], but that’s complete speculation at this point.” - producer Marie-Jo Leroux

“as a designer, we have plenty of ideas for doing a lot of stuff using Shift.” - Senior Designer Jean-Sebastien Decant

Personally, I think the ’shift’ mechanic in Driver: San Francisco is a bit lame. I really like the idea itself, but I don’t think it lends well to the type of game Driver is. I’ll reserve final judgment for the complete version of the game.
