We covered the Smash Bros. Brawl updates this week, including the announcement of the Gooey Bomb. No doubt it will be a fun addition to the series, but where did the idea come from?

Reader Arnout did some investigation and found a link to a rather famous game series. The series is well known not for the quality of the games…but just how strange they are. The series is called Cho Aniki, and if you’ve spent some time looking at various game sites, there’s no doubt you’ve heard about it. It turns out that one of the composers for the Cho Aniki series (Koji Hayama) is also working on Brawl. After searching more, a picture popped up that shows what looks like the Gooey Bomb. That’s some nice detective work!
