I am sure a ton of you missed out on this fantastic documentary not due to lack of interest, but the limited release it had. Reader Jet Pilot found a little blurb about at DVD release that actually isn’t that far off.

The hit documentary The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters is headed to DVD from New Line on 29 January. This painfully exciting tale of power and struggle on the way to Donkey Kong high scores will arrive on DVD with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, as well as a commentary from director Seth Gordon, producer Ed Cunningham, and associate producers Clay Tweel and Luis Lopez (as well as a second commentary with the editor of IGN), a handful of featurettes and an animated short (A Really, Really Brief History of Donkey Kong). SRP is $19.98.

Hopefully this date will stick. I am telling you, this is one of the best documentaries I’ve seen in a long time. Yes, I do love video games…but I loved this documentary because of the story it told and the “characters” involved. This should be a must-have for any gamer. Plus, you should see this as a way to gear up for the scripted version that is being worked on as I type this.
