Reggie - Professor Layton downloadable puzzles coming, more non-game DS abilities heading stateside

Reggie sat down to talk with the NY Times for an article chronicling the success of the DS. While the Wii is mentioned, the point of the article is show off the amazing totals that the DS has pulled in. During the interview, Reggie gets into talking about Wii to DS downloads, which will come via the Everyone’s Nintendo Channel. While we don’t get a date for the channel, he does talk about new puzzle downloads that will be available for Professor Layton, which is due to ship in February. Let’s just hope that the channel release is close to Layton’s launch.

Reggie also talks about the other ways the DS is being used in Japan. We’ve reported on museums that use the DS as a tour guide, and it seems like ‘outside of the box’ ideas like this are heading our way. The Safeco Field interactivity was apparently a test…and one that seems to have gone well.
