Nintendo having trouble renewing Duck Hunt trademark?

The US Patent and Trademark Office and Nintendo are having a bit of a tough time getting along. The two have been going back and forth applying for and denying the re-issuing of the Duck Hunt trademark. Apparently, the issue is with the term Duck Hunt is too vague to trademark anymore. Just recently, Nintendo was given a final office action that denied Nintendo the renewal. What does this mean for Duck Hunt from here on out? Perhaps this is why Duck Hunt hasn’t hit the VC, and the true Duck Hunt version wasn’t included on Wii Play. Thanks to D for the heads up!
