Hackers bringing Japanese WiiWare titles to North America...illegally

Earlier today, I had a video marked as a rumor. It showed an American Wii playing a Japanese WiiWare title. Unfortunately, the dirty secret is that people are stealing these games, and getting them to work on NA Wiis through a bit of hacking. My apologies for marking the video as rumor. The facts have now been made clear. As you know, I am not one to promote the stealing of games. This story actually gives me a chance to explain a situation that we’ve had here on GoNintendo.

A bit of a problem came up when I posted my MST3K videos. Some people saw that we were using an emulator to record those videos. Emulators are not illegal, but owning ROMs of games that you never purchased, that is. The confusion came up because some people saw the emulator, and thought that we were stealing games. I can assure that that’s not the case. Any game that we featured is indeed owned by me. I either already had the title in my library, or purchased it with the intent of recording a video.

My apologies to anyone that I confused.
