Yuji Naka (Sonic) has recently discussed how he feels that Samba De Amigo was an early precursor to Wii technology. The music oriented game had the player take control of 2 maracas that needed to be raised to either a low, medium, or high height, based upon the corresponding directions on the screen. The player also had to follow the placement of directions on screen, following the circular pattern that they appeared in.

You can definitely see the relationship between Samba De Amigo and the Wiimote, but Mr. Naka has not discussed any plans to create a sequel for the Wii.
