Overall, I’d say music games are the best way to get your girl into gaming. They provide the familiar platform of popular music, so she will already feel more comfortable jumping into things. I am pretty sure that most girlfriends also know what a set of drums, or a guitar looks like. That should make things a bit easier as well. The only downside is you having to put up with mostly crappy licensed music!
