A Wii article to make your blood boil (well, mine did at least)

Just a portion of an iTWire article…

Despite the track record of PS2, the PS3 detractors grumbled at the “outrageously high” price tag Sony placed on its next generation console. At recent games shows, they pointed to considerably cheaper Xbox 360 and of course the emergence of the half-priced Nintendo Wii.

On the Nintendo Wii, it would be fair to say that any comparison with PS3 is spurious at best. You may be able to download Nintendo 64 and Super Nintendo games and you may have a choice of 25 or 30 games at launch. That one handed motion sensitive remote looks interesting.

However, if you’re a serious gamer looking for serious graphics and serious choice, you’ll gladly pay double for a serious console. The Wii and the PS3 are simply not in the same league.

When one of my kids was eight, a salesman advised me to get him a Nintendo 64. However, he warned me that when he turned 12, he would want a PS2 and he was right.

So what we have in Japan is a situation where Xbox 360 has failed to make an impact in the past year and Wii, which will appeal to low-end gamers. Globally, Xbox 360 has done better, but not spectacularly well, and Wii will still appeal to low-end gamers.

By far, my favorite sentence in the article is the very first.

I’m not a gamer but my kids and all their friends are.

Each paragraph I read made me more and more upset. Once again, I leave it up to you guys to lay it on the line. How do you feel about this article, is it justified, does it make sense, and what is your take? My apologies for the first article of the new day being such a negative one! Thanks to Johnny4 for the link.
