Why Wii games weren't playable at TGS

An excerpt from an article over at Next-Gen

I was able to talk to Nagoshi for several minutes at the show. He told me that Super Monkey Ball wasn’t playable because of the lighting conditions at the show. Apparently, weird lighting conditions aren’t good for the Wii controller. Flash photography, in particular, sets it off. “At home, people aren’t likely to be using flash photography on their own televisions, so it won’t matter, in the long run.”

I asked Nagoshi what he thought of the Wii, and he said it was “great.” I asked him what system he would be making his next major game on, and he said, “Definitely not the Wii.”

Well, we already knew about the lighting setup for the Wii, so no big deal there. The final statement is strange though. I think the Wii is great, but my next game definitely won’t be on the Wii. I wonder if he meant it purely as fact, or in a cold, harsh manner?
