Dear Reader:
GoNintendo 'End of day' thoughts - Cave Story WiiWare - first in-game screens, both classic and redrawn game art
Weekend is here…time to relax! The weather outside is pretty stormy…a heavy rain. That’s just how I like it when I go to sleep. It’s such a soothing sound, as long as thunder doesn’t come and ruin it! I’m off to catch some rest, gang. You guys have a great morning, and I’ll see you in just a few, short hours. Take care, everyone.
You guys have known of my love of Cave Story for a long time now. I professed my passion for the game long before we knew it was coming to the Wii. Hell, it was long before we even knew what WiiWare was! Little did that I know that years later, I would actually have the pleasure of knowing the man behind the localization.
Tyrone Rodriguez of Nicalis Inc. has been a great friend of mine for a couple years now. His insight into the industry has been absolutely invaluable. Let me tell you, this guy has done everything there is to do in the game industry. Well, that is, everything expect publish games…which he’s doing now! Starting off with a localization/port of Cave Story to WiiWare is a pretty damn good way to get your name out there.
We’ve been following updates on game art and additions at the official Cave Story WiiWare blog. So far, we’ve seen a ton of redrawn sprites, with Quote coming in just a few hours ago. Now, I am very, very happy to bring you the first direct-feed screens of Cave Story WiiWare.
Now, and most importantly, we have another in-game screen running on the Wii, but this one shows off the remixed graphics. Redrawn backgrounds and sprites…quite drool-worthy.
The area in the screens should be very familiar to Cave Story fans. Now that you’ve seen the full picture, with fully redesigned graphics…what do you think? Will you be playing the game with the classic sprites and backgrounds, or are you going to bump it up to the remixed graphics mode?
Huge thanks to Tyrone Rodriguez for sending these screens our way.
