The indie development scene absolutely exploded in 2008. Indie developers finally saw platforms that allowed for release of their content, and it wasn’t a horrible ordeal to get your game published either. All three consoles offer indie developers a new way to distribute their games. That’s why we saw the success stories of World of Goo, Braid, and others.
2009 is sure to continue this trend, and allow for indie devs to make an even bigger splash in 2009. Remember, DSiWare is kicking off as well, which is just one more way for the indie scene to spread their work around.
