Square-Enix dumping voice acting from Valkyrie Profile? - UPDATE

In the scene below, you see footage from the English version of Valkyrie Profile. There is only text, and no voice work.
In the Japanese version of this game, Square-Enix included voice acting. It looks like Square-Enix may have done away with the majority of voice acted segments in the English release, meaning they didn’t bother to hire voice actors to include in scenes. Does the lack of voice acting bother you, or is this something you wouldn’t have even noticed if attention wasn’t drawn to it!?
