GoNintendo Video - Yoshi's Island DS

You guys asked for a video, and now you have one. It isn’t the best quality, but it should give an idea of how the game plays, looks, and so on. You will see Baby Peach, Donkey Kong, Yoshi submarine, how the dual screen gameplay accounts for the space between screens, hear music, see an homage to classic Donkey Kong games, and more. As you saw below, I was just a tad upset with the EGM impressions of the game. I am going to list a few quick bulletpoints of what I like about the game, and what I don’t. Look for that list below the video.

Positive points

Gameplay that stretches across both screens, and doesn’t ignore the space inbetween the two screens. It is treated as actual space

Character switching provides you with new moves, and abilities, and also offers up new puzzles

Multiple paths to the final goal, tons of red coin, character coin, and flower collecting

Lengthy levels that challenge, but are nowhere near impossible

Negative points

Some songs are great, while others aren’t as memorable

Game will be over way too fast (much like NSMB)

Those truly are my only gripes as of right now, having made it to world 4. The only other negative I have is my own stigma of no Yoshi’s Island sequel living up to the original. The original holds a special place in my heart. Nothing will outshine the first title, but having said that, Yoshi’s Island DS is more than worthy of continuing the series. This is coming from a Yoshi’s Island freak. A full review should be put together sometime over this weekend.

What a morning for news, huh?! Who knew that the Wii hours would bring in so many goodies. If you are just waking up now, make sure you go back and check all the stories since the History post from last night. There are all sorts of things to look at like Wii lines, assembly line pics/vids, Famitsu scans, and more. Have a wonderful Thursday morning guys, I will be back in a few hours!
