GN Version 3.1

“Tecmo had the philosophy that the user would throw a game away if it wasn’t hard enough. So we made games really hard. Nowadays, a lot more people play games, so we ramp up the difficulty much more gradually. We want everybody to be able to play it and get good at it.” - Namco Bandai Chief Producer Hideo Yoshizawa

Mr. Yoshizawa used to work for Tecmo back in the early days, when the company was known for ridiculously hard titles. I think their new approach to game design is definitely a smart idea.
