Can the Wii save adventure gaming?

I really hope the answer turns out to be yes in this instance. As I have mentioned in the past, I have always been an huge adventure gaming fan. For those of you who don’t really know what adventure games are, perhaps a few names would clear things up. We are talking the likes of Sam and Max, Maniac Mansion, Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, and more.

We have already seen a small resurgence of adventure games on the DS due to the platform’s perfect control setup. The only thing that might be better for adventure gaming would be Wiimote control. Pointing at items, inventorn, NPC’s…the Wiimote would make for perfect navigation.

We have already heard from the Sam and Max team, which would love to get something going on the Wii. Will we see more of these types of games make their way to Nintendo’s new console? When will we see the first entry into this genre on the Wii? Will any of you guys actually buy games like this?!
