Poll: 3DS Retail Game of 2012

Hello, guys! Welcome to this year's 3DS Retail Game of the Year (GOTY) Poll! That's right, this is the poll in which the biggest Nintendo fans in the world (a.k.a. YOU GUYS!) get to vote on your favorite 3DS retail game of 2012! Who knows, maybe the results may surprise you!

Speaking of surprises (or lack thereof), last year's winner was SUPER MARIO 3D LAND, which passed in flying colors with 59% of all your votes! Mario Kart 7 came in a distant second with 23%, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time came in third with 10%. Thanks to all who voted last year, and make sure you vote again this time too!

Choosing the nominations this year is a bit different from last year. After posting a poll both here and IGN, you guys told me (unanimously) that instead of Metacritic, I should use GameRankings to choose my nominations. So there. New rules.

The ten games listed above are the top ten games of this year per platform based on the average rating as determined by GameRankings.com. Games must obtain a certain number of reviews (9 for retail, 4 for eShop) in order for it to be eligible for nomination. The nominees are listed in alphabetical order. All members have only one permanent, binding vote. Poll closes exactly 30 days after original posting.

Last year, there was a little bit of an outcry for not including digital titles into the mix, thanks to Pushmo. This year I'm making a separate poll for 3DS eShop titles, so be on the lookout for that. And of course, there will be Wii U polls this year as well.

Resident Evil: Revelations gets my vote. I've enjoyed this game so much this year. ^_^

Ones that I played:

Kid Icarus Uprising: At first it was fun, but then it got more annoying the more I played it.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Gameplay wise, it's a step up from Birth By Sleep's unbalanced gameplay. However, it somehow manages to have less content than the game before it.

Metal Gear Solid 3D: I was expecting a game like Peace Walker (the only game in the series I actually liked), but instead I got Metal Gear Solid 3 with the frustrations of Peace Walker.... No control options, no customizations, no content, and NO FUN.

Paper Mario Sticker Star: A very big disappointment after a great start in the beginning.

Resident Evil Revelations: Honestly, the best 3DS game I played this year..... Which isn't saying much.

Tales of the Abyss: It's a port of a game that actually was enjoyable before the on and off shi++y streak the tales series seems to be having. Not bad, but it's pretty much the same game from the PS2.

Tales of the abyss was what i voted for.
I was debating on voting nsmb 2 as it's not a port at least but i like abyss more besides i never played the original.

I voted for Revelations, but this is solely because it is the only game I own and have played.

I didn't get my 3DS until summer and I only own OoT3D and Revelations for it right now. Simply haven't had the money to put towards Nintendo's top-tier games that stay at around $40.

I imagine Kid Icarus is one of the best, but I haven't played it at all.

Kid Icarus: Uprising or Paper Mario: Sticker Star. Both awesome games, but I'll give the vote to Kid Icarus since it blew me away the most.

If it weren't for the fact that it was Christmas, thus A) I have to spend money on others and B) I don't know if anyone was getting the game for me, I'd have been all over that.

for me it's tales of the abyss. never played the originalso for me it was a new experience and it is a nice solid rpg and that was what the 3ds was missing. though i havent played paper mario yet ^^

I had to go for Revelations mostly because its a shining gem in a sea of Resident Evil crap. It has been a while since I have been scared by this series (Games or Movies) and this game had me freaked out as bad as the GC remake or Resident Evil 4.
