Cheaper Nintendo Points Cards and eShop cards

Postby phantomliger89 » 27 Nov 2012 22:17

If anyone has a BJ's Wholesale Club near them, I have bought both Nintendo Points cards and eShop cards from them and they tend to be about $2 off for the $20 or 2000 point cards.

Just thought I'd let others know so people can save some money.

Technically, you shouldn't be charged tax anywhere you purchase one of the cards. You are taxed on the eShop when you purchase a game (at least on the N3DS and WU eShops) so being taxed when you purchase the card would be double-taxation.

Points cards for any console are rarely ever on sale. Sometimes you can save money on the XBLA points cards, but I've never seen anything like buy 1 get 1 free or 50% off on these things.

Back when those were bundled with classic controller covers and other random stuff I was able to get over a dozen of them half off because they covers were discontinued to the bundles went on clearance ^.^

Dayum! When was this? I've never seen Wii Points bundled with anything. Actually, the only promotion I remember for points was if you pre-order MHTri at GameStop you got the 500 points.

i just figured it worked like the microsoft points. if i buy the points through my 360, i get charged for tx. if i buy the cards online, i can save on the tax. i guess with a straight money conversion, it would be different but i haven't tried.

Yeah, the Wii worked out that you are taxed on the purchase of points, and not on the purchase of games.
