Nintendo eShop Card Cross-Compatible?

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forum, so, please be nice. My question is this: if I receive a Nintendo eShop card for Christmas and redeem it on my Wii U, will I be able to access the same credit on eShop on my 3DS? In other words, is the credit cross-compatible between the eShop on the Wii U and 3DS if both are utilizing the same NNID?

No, the 3DS does not have an account system, so it's impossible to link them up. It sucks, I know.

Short answer: No

Long answer: No, there is no account based system on the 3DS. Even if they add one I'm not sure they would allow cross platform compatibility between Wii U and 3DS. You can't even log into another Wii U with your NN ID since it is tied to that specific console.
