The problem with Sonic 4: Ep 2 is the physics. Sonic has terrible momentum, and he accelerates too slowly. His jumping feels floaty too.

Sonic Generations fixed most of these problems (momentum and acceleration while running), but Classic Sonic's jump feels too stiff. You also can't buildup speed and roll through a loop.

In short:
Sonic 4: Ep 2 - Sonic is too floaty, poor acceleration, no momentum, rolling is unreliable
Sonic Generations - Classic Sonic's jump is too stiff, acceleration and momentum are fixed, rolling still sucks
I don't want an "all-in-one" multimedia system. I want a GAME console. ~ (me after the Xbox One reveal)

They never should have called it "Sonic 4" then. That was implying greatness, and wound up just being a slap in the face to long-time Sonic fans.

I don't recall any problem with Sonic's momentum in Episode 2. Episode 1 was riddled with bad physics.

I agree on the acceleration though. Sonic takes way too long to speed up, but given how the levels are designed (for using Tails and platforming a little more than zipping around) I thought it was fine. I mean, I still plowed through the levels easy enough.

As for being floaty, I seem to like floaty jumps. It's not very "classic Sonic", but I like floaty jazz.

Sonic was pretty damn stiff with jumping in the classic games too, so I don't see the problem there with Generations. Likewise, rolling's never been good. You always want to do it because it seems cool in theory, but it tended to be crappy regardless of the game, in my opinion. I just always pretended it was good and did it anyway. But yeah, I don't recall it being worse in Generations than in any other Sonic.

It's called Sonic 4 because the story is rooted in the original series. It takes place shortly after Sonic & Knuckles, and 4-2 is connected to CD. It implies it's a sequel, not that it would be the best thing ever.

I agree that it is a slap in the face (especially Episode 1 overall, and Episode 2 in the sense that the Team Attack is forced on you), but it was also supposed to be a bridge into Adventure.

It makes sense why it was called Sonic 4, but it's not the Sonic 4 we wanted. Generations Classic was basically the 4 we wanted, for all intents and purposes.

I wonder if they'll implement something from Shadow the Hedgehog (the game).

Wondering how they'll look and maybe if they're playable... :)

On that facebook post with the six mysterious figures, people are WHINING like crazy in the comments, saying nintendo has doomed sonic, this is gonna fail because it's on wii U, and because it's not coming to 360 or PS3... It's like bayonetta 2 again, but not as bad. At least they now SHOULD know how we feel with every multiplatform game.

Don't even joke about that. Anyways, it's certainly exciting that the Wii U is getting a major third party exclusive. And while I would've preferred them to flesh out the current characters more, I don't have anything against these "guardians" so long as they're nothing more than bosses / NPC's. My one wish is for Tails to be playable, and exactly like Sonic except he's got a fly meter rather than a boost one. I think that maybe it's what it needs to keep the current gameplay style fresh. I personally don't think it's getting old, but it's a complaint I've been hearing a lot.

Huh, no one here to comment on the trailer?

But yes, the characters give me Disney vibes. At least they don't feel that cartoony as in Unleashed.

Looks great and has SMG vibe going surprisingly, now I just need to see characters other than sonic playable. Sonic alone bores me sorry. >:p

I saw that quote and immediately thought back to some of the side missions in Generations. The ones where you could summon Amy to make you do a high jump, summon Tails to fly you over a pit or have Rouge... "Infatuate" robots.

Guess I'll go another gen without Sonic since his friends have been relegated now to powerups, small cameo appearances, etc.

Well enjoy the game this fall ya guys. (*cries self in corner.*)

Assuming you missed out on great games like Colors and Generations....i can't see how the friends not being playable would make a validation on skipping out on a potentially great game.

I mean Sega's pretty much dead set on never bringing the friends back to playable status again after the fanboys demanded for their removal. So you might be better off ditching Sonic in general from now on if you really wanted something more than solo-Sonic.

Well what can I say, I enjoyed playing the adventure games growing up. Playing as different characters provided a change of pace and variety from Sonic. The last Sonic game I ever played was Sonic Heroes (GCN). I went this whole gen skipping games like Sonic and The Black Knight, Sonic and The Secret Rings, Sonic Colors, so I can definitely look elsewhere for other games without getting my Sonic fix. This is nothing new for me.

I "ditched" Sonic long ago so I guess that trend must continue for me. :/

In TheLastBlade's defense, it is not like the Flight/Power guys in Heroes, the vehicles in Shadow, the ten friends in '06, or the Werehog in Unleashed were much better.

(Or for that matter, Mach Speed Sonic, Secret Rings Sonic, Minecart Sonic, or Sword Sonic -- but I digress. :C )

Honestly I love what I see from this trailer and am very much interested in playing this game now. Since it's Mostly inspired by Mario Galaxy in terms of level design, and from the looks of it the game play has improved subtly over previous games that I'm excited to learn more about this game.
