Super Smash Bros. for 3DS

Whats better then one screen? Well two screens of course! Current-gen portables inside: DS, Lite, DSi, DSXL, 3DS...

I imagine Viridi dropping the R Bomb and changing radically the stage.

With luck we would have another stage of Kid Icarus... Now that makes me think if there will be a Kid Icarus Uprising stage in the Wii U version.

Just like I said in the article, I think Pit should have a a special taunt that opens up a conversation between some of the characters like Palutena or Viridi. Much like Fox and co. and snakes codecs.

Feel free to add me on your 3DS. PM me if u do. Also got a Wii U now, so add me as well and PM me!

Wow. The new stage looks gorgeous. I'm actually envious it's only on 3DS.

Seriously, Villager is like the Kevin McCallister (Home Alone) of Smash Bros.

As in, using ordinary objects to destroy people that's much bigger and scarier than him? Then yes, exactly. ^^

I will totally use him as mu first Smash 4 character.

Well, the new pic of the day is quite interesting.

By the looks of it, it's probably Distant Planet, but the scenery seems... different.

I'm guessing you guys already saw this?

In the previous game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the development team took advantage of the rare occasion of having multiple different series' characters all appear in the same game, so they painstakingly created a special story called the Subspace Emissary, complete with cutscenes for players to enjoy. It was a project that obviously took a lot of thought, time, and energy. And then, the obvious happened...

"Unfortunately, the movie scenes we worked hard to create were uploaded onto the internet." Sakurai lamented. "You can only truly wow a player the first time he sees [a cutscene]. I felt if players saw the cutscenes outside of the game, they would no longer serve as rewards for playing the game, so I've decided against having them."

I'm... confused. :?

A more interesting single player mode, minus cutscenes? SSE was nice, but the cutscenes were the only truly good part about it... maybe this time we'll get something worth playing, as oppose to watching.

I bet if they gave us Melee's adventure mode with more Nintendo-themed levels and worlds, people would forget SSE ever existed.

Which is the way it should be.

SSE would've been better if it was set with more Nintendo themed levels. Overall, the levels in SSE were rather generic. Kirby on Zebes. Mario in Hyrule. Link in the Mushroom Kingdom. SAMUS IN HOENN, A LIFE-SIZED POKE-BALL! OMG!

My problem with this news (or old news, rather) is that the logic is idiotic.

By Sakurai's logic, no game should have cutscenes anymore because people spoil them online.

I didn't spoil them (but did spoil the character reveal title card things). I liked watching the scenes in SSE and in-game by themselves even. They weren't a "reward", they were part of that experience. They were a huge part of SSE and made the first time feel awesome. It was exciting to see all the characters interact.

Sakurai, you seriously need to think about how stupid that logic is. If you don't want cutscenes because of size or whatever, okay, sucks. But "HURR DURR, SOME GUYS SPOIL IT, SO I'M GONNA RUIN IT FOR EVERYONE, EVEN THOSE THAT DIDN'T" is annoying.

Yeah, the reasoning behind it is so dumb. He's ignoring that a lot of us don't spoil ourselves online and actually play the game to find out stuff. I refuse to believe that's the real reason behind the decision and rather the "official" version, but who knows.

Still, if it means they'll invest more time in making a better multiplayer experience, I guess it's worth it.

That's the thing, people always use this or like "WELL, IT MEANS MORE CHARACTERS OR GAMEPLAY FOCUS" but it really doesn't. If anything, it just means the same amount, but less dev time.

People like to think optimistically that "not adding this thing means this thing will be better" like the logic of how losing one sense heightens the other senses. Except that's not always the case here. It could literally just mean they get everything done faster and call it a day.

It does mean they have more time to focus on those other things, but it doesn't mean they will take *more* time to focus on them. That's all I'm saying.

I at least like the idea he tossed around about indivisual character introduction videos. If they're all like the Wii Fit Trainer one, I'd like that pretty good. In fact, wouldn't it be awesome if whenever you finish off a requirement for unlocking a character, a cutscene for that character plays? It would be really cool if you finished a random battle, then you saw the cut scene for Wii Fit Trainer, and got into a battle to unlock her.

Basically...

- Players are assigned colors for every match (like usual)
- What's new is that the light which displays when a character gets KO'd is assigned to the player that got the point
