So...like Steam then.

It basically allows Nintendo not to do them because Miyamoto hates the concept.

Steam's achievements are system wide. Sure they are entirely optional but others can easily view your achievements. They're not the same as the 360/PS3 though since they don't add up to a score/trophy level.

^ For example, you can easily view achievements from any of my games.

Well, for Steam, you don't need to add Achievements. If there's a hook to Accomplishments, then it's just like Steam.

I'm thinking that if Accomplishments were like Steam then they would have integrated the viewing of friends Accomplishments through Miiverse. We've already seen all of the menu options and choices in Miiverse and not a one had to do with Accomplishments. I'm thinking that Wii U's approach is a game by game basis that has nothing to do with console integration.

This could be only a temporary thing though. Maybe Nintendo will integrate it better through a firmware update later on in the console's life (whether or not that's possible with the way they set things up is beyond me)

Okay, I did read it wrong apparently. I don't get why they even bothered to name them if there's no Miiverse hook to them :\

Maybe a 'Create Your Own/Match Friends Accomplishments' Leaderboard would've been nice.

EDIT:
I doubt many developers are going to leave them out of multiplatform releases since they already worked on them.

Anyone read the preview article about Ninja Giaden 3 Razor's Edge in this month's Nintendo Power?
Spoiler:
They took a leaf out of the PS3 "Sigma" games if you are playing with the Gamepad you can jiggle and poke the female characters breasts during cutscenes. Should we of have expected anything else from Team Ninja? I'm still surprised Nintendo is publishing. [/hide]

I would say that all that needs to happen is that players need to keep complaining to Nintendo, but I have a (unsubstantiated) theory that if Japanese players don't care about achievements, they'll never get added in.

Well it will have achievements, it just is up to the developer whether or not they support it, and you will probably only be able to view them from within the game.

I haven't been watching any of the unboxing videos that game sites have been doing for this thing, but for any of you that have watched did you happen to notice if any of them have said what (if any) 3rd party launch games will have Club Nintendo PINs in the case?

We dunno. NG3 will, but that's sorta first party. I'm guessing Rayman Legends will once it comes out, since Origins (3DS) has one according to Club Nintendo.

ZombiU probably does, and perhaps Scribblenauts Unlimited because of the Mario/Zelda characters.

Speaking of transferring Wii data to the Wii U, will this include game record data found in the Nintendo Channel? I'm hoping it will transfer into the 'Activity Log'...

Considering it was said that Wii games aren't recorded in the Activity Log, I'd say no.

Well that's one way to keep Ubisoft from leaking information. :?

BTW, this thread will be taken down at the end of the year to accommodate all territory launches + a month. After that, we're out of what I consider to be launch.

Looks like that indicates the WiiU OS takes up 4.2gb space initially. Which leaves space for possibly a single game download from the eshop. I liked their use of colour beads to represent the data :D

Yes, but it also indicates, that you can play your games off of your usb hard drive. There was some controversy about this in the last few days...
